Shameless hoarding at RI breakfast
For the past three mornings at the RI I'm staying at, I've seen the same gentleman show up near the end of breakfast service, help himself to the last boxes of cereal, fruit, and japanese breakfast items, and, when the staff isn't looking, sneak into the prep area to grab the last scoops of egg/biscuits.
I'm not talking about just packing a plate of food to take back to the room; I'm talking literally two plastic grocery bags at a time, as if he's just come back from the market or something.
I've seen the assistant GM and breakfast staff admonish him, seemingly to no avail. The ...'t GM had even pre-empted his attempt at the cereal one time by bringing the cereal rack to the service area herself when he arrived.
Has anyone else ever witnessed this type of shameless hoarding of food? Did you report it? How did the staff handle it?

I last witnessed such behavior in college...
A plate of this gentleman's favorite dish, suitably laced with a laxative, and left in the prep area away from other guests, should get the message across

Yes, maybe not the best choice of nouns ... how about "voracious bloke"
I too recall similar behavior in college, but it was with the silverware...

If this is at the end of breakfast, the GM or mgr on duty knows about it, and you have had all the breakfast you want, my question is why do you care?

Why didnt you just ask the man why he was doing it? Maybe he had a decent reason...invalid parent in the room who can't come down...young rowdy children...wife who demands breakfast in bed...etc. Hey! It could happen!

I think the scolding seemed to work; the guy now settles for taking the rest of the steamed rice that they would just throw away anyways at the end of the shft. The breakfast attendant told me and other guests that he was taking too much food back too early, when guests were still coming in the last 15 minutes of breakfast.

I'm still curious to know why! Is this guy really eating "two grocery bags" of breakfast daily?

The JW at BKK serves free food and drinks upto 8pm in the exec lounge. I never made it back in time from work most days, but when I did get there a couple of times when they were closing, they did let me and my colleagues hang out there for a while. We noticed this big guy in bermudas go up to the drinks table about 830pm and stuff a few bottles of beer (the 330ml kind) into all his pockets and then waddle out of the lounge bulging in all directions. When we brought the incident to the staff's attention, they said he was a MR Plat who did this every night during his stay and that they "were taking note of it"...whatever that meant!
