Using the concierge lounge before check-in
Has any GLD or PLT out there been offered use of the concierge lounge prior to check-in?
For example, you had a morning arrival, but your room wasn't ready yet? If so, at what properties did you experience this, and how early did you arrive?
I would think this would be a reasonable alternative to hanging out in the lobby.

I wasn't offered the lounge but at the Grosvenor Marriott, they escorted me to the tea/bar area & brought me tea (free) while I waited for room to be cleaned.

I refused this once at the London Park Lane. I asked whether the lounge was not open ? In the end they did put me in the lounge, where I could even have breakfast.

This DID happen to us at the Rennaisance Chancery Court. Spent several hours in the Conceirge Lounge waiting for our room to be ready after arriving in the morning after a Transatlantic flight.

That's good to know it's happened at some of the London properties. I'll remember it for the next time I touch down at 7am in LHR.

I have always been offered access to the Executive lounge when my room wasn't ready..... if they had an executive lounge that is.
This happens alot when traveling to Europe when the overnight flights arrive in the AM and customers want to check into their rooms.
At the Chancery Court I used the shower facilities off the exercise room to freshen up while waiting for my room....

I'm even batting a 100% when I have asked to use the lounge to conduct interviews, even when I was not staying at the property. One of the many reasons Marriott gets most of my business.

Is this a proper use of the lounge?

At Chancery Court, we (family of 3) arrived in the morning and were immediately escorted to the lounge as no rooms were ready. We had tea and they brought fresh cookies, so the time passed quickly. We did not actually check in until early afternoon.

longing4piedmont,
How do you go about asking for lounge usage in this manner? Were these properties you've stayed at previously? Did you have to ask in advance?

This doesn't apply exactly to this question, but I had an early check-in once at the Tampa Westshore Marriott and since my room wasn't ready, the clerk told me to go to the restaurant and show my platinum card to have breakfast. This was on the weekend when the lounge was closed. I suppose if it had been during the week, I could have taken my card to the lounge and probably gotten in without a hassle. That's an assumption of course, but the way they handled my situation led me to believe this.

This late C/O situation was probably beyond the hotel's control; also the property had only been open for two months or so when we visited. Despite this, the MOD handled the situation well and we wouldn't hesitate to visit there again.

Sydney Marriott
I've had good experiences of this nature at the Sydney Marriott on several occasions. After enduring the 15 hour flight from either LA or San Francisco, all I basically wanted was a shower and a bed. The flights from the US typically arrive in Sydney in the morning, before most rooms are either vacated or cleaned at the hotel. On every occasion that I've stayed there, the MOD has offered to let me use the shower in the rooftop health club to freshen up and then have breakfast in the concierge lounge. By the time I accomplished these two tasks, my room was typically ready. It sure is a nice gesture after a long flight. I'm not sure if it is routine or standard operating procedure, but I've had no exceptions to the process yet.
