I took breakfast as the amenity and there was no upcharge. I found the airport express to be extremely convenient. The train entrance at the airport is right there in the middle of the arrival hall. There is a bit of a walk to the hotel, maybe 3-5 minutes. But the signs in the mall are now well marked so seemed quick and painless to me. |
We just wrapped up a four night stay here after spending a couple weeks in mainland China to adopt our daughter. I had requested a crib via Plat Concierge and received an e-mail a few days prior to arrival from Sammy, the SPG Coordinator at the hotel. She asked about arrival time and special requests and said they'd do their best to upgrade us. I re-requested the crib at that time. Sammy actually checked us in on arrival and we were upgraded to a corner room on the Southeast corner of the building with a nice view of the harbor and Hong Kong Island between the ICC and the adjacent apartment tower. The room was decent sized with a small couch and dining table and very large windows. Bathroom was spacious with a large bathtub/shower room with a window facing ICC. Much to my surprise, there was no crib on arrival, but housekeeping was in the hall when we arrived and helped us locate the power key slot in the room so I mentioned the crib to him and he quickly returned with one for us.
We took breakfast as the Platinum amenity and it was very good. It has a whimsical feel that we really liked. The croissants weren't as good as some other hotels, but they had some excellent muffins and other pastries. Fresh juices are served in individual bottles, several yogurts, a crepe station, eggs cooked to order, etc. We had the cold breakfast a couple times and the hot a couple of times (100HKD ea). Both were good, but I was impressed with the extent of cold offerings as we were able to eat very well on our "cold days." They were also very nice to let us get congee for the baby even when we didn't upgrade to hot breakfast. Service was sporadic at breakfast. When things got crowded, they couldn't keep up. Our stay was over the weekend and breakfast on Sunday morning was insanely crowded. They were understaffed and it was chaotic. There were very long waits for anything cooked to order and tables went uncleared. The next day, the crowds were gone and it was much nicer. The location worked out great for us. MTR is super easy and the walk towards TST wasn't as bad as I thought it would be with all the construction in the area (once we figured out how to get through it all). Airport Express has to be one of the greatest inventions of all time... We were just coming off a great stay at the Sheraton Guangzhou so I'll admit this stay felt a little disappointing. I think it's more a testament to how great the Sheraton Guangzhou was than the W being bad. I'd still return to the W Hong Kong as it's still my favorite Starwood option in town (though it does seem like Hong Kong could use a Westin...). |
Really impressed here. Did the hotel transport and went very smooth. got private in room check in but only upgraded to a cool corner room. I was also here looking at booking the hotel for a large number of rooms for an event for my company so I thought they would upgrade me to a larger room to impress me but oh well. the cool corner did have some great views. The ritz carlton right next door is unparalleled for great views as I stayed there last Sept.
room service is very good IMO, with prices for food OK although drinks are very high (non alcoholic). Very good location and convenient to get to places using MTR. Overall using my corporate rate I was good with my price of basically a little over 300 bucks for my stay. |

Finished a 3 night stay here on points for vacation last week as a Platinum - first time at the W Hong Kong (typically stay at the Sheraton for business)
-Taxi from airport (very long day of traveling from the US) -Was moved to a higher floor, harbour view - wasn't clear if this ranked as "Fabulous" officially, but was very impressed -Breakfast was awesome as advertised in this forum - we enjoyed the continental 2 days, hot on a 3rd, and was not charged an upcharge, though certainly it would be worth it! -Connectivity with the MTR in the connected Elements mall was nice, though counteracted by having a tough time being able to walk anywhere... though this is countered by Hong Kong's cheap and plentiful taxis -Pool on the 76th floor is ridiculous... if only it had a better view! -Airport Express is a total dream upon departure, 5 minute walk to check luggage in at the attached station, and then zipping off to HKG, really amazing at this property -Generally extremely impressed and happy with our stay and have highly recommended it to colleagues traveling to Hong Kong |
Just completed a 12 night stay here with a large group. We all were very satisfied with the location, amenities, etc. I have stayed here once before and this time I was upgraded to a fantastic suite, which is nice to have when you are there for so long. The layout was ok, the closet was small and the light was often blocked by the clothes hanging above, but for them to utilitze all that space in a corner is tough.
Shower was powerful and had an overhead shower with 2 heads in front. What I really like is the blackout shades. They worked wonderfully. I like it dark and cold thus the blackout shades were great combined with the dual AC controls, one in bedroom, one in the living room. Took a while to cool down but held the temp very well. Room service is overpriced, but you expect that at a cat 6 in an iconic city. They do give you a toy car each time you get room service, so I will save those for my nephews. The laundry is very good, although expensive. They stick to times that you need things done and even did my hats as they were soaked from sweat a couple days. Location is very convenient for MTR and airport express, hard to get anymore convenient actually. I wish more cities would follow the HKG lead and have an airport express this convenient. Had dinner with a large group at their high end Sing Lin restaurant and it was very well done. We had a private room and ordered off the set menu. The lobster could or couldn't have been from South Africa as they advertised, who knows. Service was good, although the room was too cold and they had trouble adjusting the temperature. Pool at the top is a wonderful amenity and underutilized IMO. The spa was sold our much of the time and I never got an appt for I couldn't ever get a same day appt when I needed it. Thus good for them, bad for guests. Hotel transport was great and the audi's they use are very comfortable. Thumbs up and will stay here again. |
Out of curiosity, when can PLAT expect a complementary upgrade to WOW suite?

I read several reports though.
I was there for 12 days with 30 other colleagues several of which were plats and I was one of two to get a Fantastic Suite. I also had 2 meetings with one of their revenue management team and she confirmed Fantastic is the top for plat upgrades. Anything higher is a special circumstance that is rare. |
I will be staying at the W Hong Kong from June 12-16. I booked a standard room but I used complimentary suite night upgrades for my stay. The upgrade will not be confirmed until up to the day of arrival.
My question is, how busy is the W Hotel with regards to Fantastic Suite availability during my time period? Thanks. |
