When did the one free drink policy start?
We also got a Woobar card a year ago but I do not think earlier, in 2013. |
Don't know, as my stay was a couple of weeks ago. I don't stay at Ws very often, but as I remember, it's the same thing at the W BKK

Is there still the plate in the room when you arrive with some small desserts? Maybe that was replaced by the drink coupon.

Forget the chocolates, flowers or the usual welcome gifts, we'll be giving you something more exciting - Drink at WOOBAR!" On the other hand - usually there's also a fruit / chocolate / dessert platter or something creative in my room. Sometimes flowers or champagne as well. |
I once got a nice crystal paper weight or decorative thing around the holidays. They were also being used to decorate the lobby IIRC as well as being sold in the little gift shop.

I just returned from a great 4-night stay at the W Hong Kong. Service was fantastic. Turn down service was consistently excellent and left W-branded red envelopes containing chocolate one night (I stayed there for Chinese New Year). All of the staff here were fantastic, but my hat goes off to the concierge team who were just fantastic. They greeted me by name every time they saw me, asked what I thought of the recommendations from the previous day, made new/revised recommendations based on my experiences, etc. Stellar. I was granted a 4pm late checkout (noted in my stay preferences as my flight was out of HKG at 10pm) and a room on a high (37th) floor with an epic view.
The location of the W is pretty good - the airport express MTR downstairs is very convenient and you can check in/check your bags there as well. When I return to Hong Kong, I'll have a tough choice ahead of me: hotels like the Peninsula that are located in TST are slightly more convenient in terms of the sights I want to see, but the convenience of the MTR/airport express inside the mall and my wonderful experience at the W make me want to go back ^ |
Restaurants - Slightly OT
Hi
We are staying at the W for a few nights at the end of the month and trying to decide where to eat. Do either of the W restaurants have much of a view to go with the dining experience? Also can anyone suggest a Fine Dining Style restaurant with great views of Hong Kong? Thanks in advance! |

The IC might have a restaurant with a view from almost water level. They might also have an outdoor place for snacks and drinks (not fine dining at all) along the Walk of Stars, which would really be along the water. Sometimes the Star Ferry has view cruises at night, but I wouldn't expect fine dining there. I've done drinks cruises offered by the Peninsula which were wonderful, but I believe they've been discontinued. IIRC they were free for hotel guests but others could purchase a package including either a buffet dinner in one of the hotel's restaurants or some set menu supper in the lobby bar. |
