CH / GH club open on weekend?

Any recent stays to confirm whether the club is open at either of these hotels on the weekend?

Thanks

From that point on, we adjusted our schedules a little and did some touring, back to the hotel for lunch and a swim (when she could enjoy the pool), and then out for shows, dinner or more tours, etc.

One other note....this pool was REALLY cold. The huge hot tub in the locker room, though, was fabulous!
Perfect, exactly why we picked this hotel! My 10 year old does 80-100 laps a day 4-5 days a week in a 25 yard pool that runs about 78 degree F, so if it is around that temp she will be a happy camper. We are going to be gone 8 days, so I just want her to get in a couple of workouts. Teh 7 year old will swim too, she's my buddy, as I can't keep up with the 10 year old anymore.

We were there for 2 nites end of June

Were upgraded to a small suite on the 7th floor and personally escorted there.

from there though it was downhill

Food in lounge ( except for the afternoon tea) was sparse

Asking for an Indian restaurant one nite we were given directions that took us through alleys; with no offer to call ahead. Turned out the restaurant was out of business.

This and other recent reports are leaving me a little uncertain about sticking with the GH property for a week award stay this fall. I have back up reservations at the County Hall and Grosvenor Square properties. I'll be interested to see how things stack up between the 3 properties when some more reports come in from GH, GS, and CH. A nice upgrade would be most enjoyable to us for this stay, so the likelihood of this is one important weighting factor; but of course we'll have to finalize our choice without knowing what we'll eventually end up with on that score. Being treated nicely doesn't cost the hotel much but always seems to do wonders for the mood of one's stay. Seems like some of the GH staff need a refresher course on good hospitality.

For me, the difference in locale was critical.

Grosvenor Square was in a quiet part of town with no major traffic noise.

Grosvenor House had larger, more luxurious rooms but the noise was inescapable.

FWIW, I found the GS staff more friendly, although the physical plant itself is more limited.

What's the offer? There is no price and I'm sure it's not for the right to be able to stay at the property.

While the Renaissance London Heathrow is a bit outside of downtown London, I like the 90 GBP BOGO free rate. If you need two rooms then that averages to 45 GBPs per night. I don't think it gets much cheaper than that.

My problem with the ADV rate is that it is an "advanced payment" and non-refundable. But at least you do get breakfast for 2 which in London can be very hefty.

Hilton's 25% off Visa Signature rate likely still yields a better rate for more centrally located hotels. Some Marriott Visa cards are Signature cards and do qualify for that rate.

Lovely hotel,great room,staff needs some training/experience

Just had a week long stay at the Grosvenor House in London.
The location is pretty swell(what one would call a good address)and the hotel is VERY large property.
I found the physical plant to be just great. We were upgraded to a "deluxe"king room which was very spacious. Our room was an inner room on the sixth floor. This proved to be a blessing as their were several loud events in Hyde Park over our stay and we did not hear a thing.

Bathroom was very lage and well furnished.Wonderfu thick towels and the bath products(Nirvae-seems to be the JW brand standard now)were all replaced daily as needede(sometimes at turndown. Both a toilet and bidet.Plenty of counter space.
Plenty of storage space in the room with a large closet(plenty of hangers)and drawers.

Both case and soft goods were of great quality.Bed was comfy and linens were of very high quality. The only thing missing was a lighter duvet(or blanket)for those such as myself who find the Marriott duvet much too heavy for summer/warm weather.

Air conditiong(a blessing)worked well-maybe a little too well as the fan, even on a low setting, was pretty stong-making it a bit noisy but nothing unbearable.

Elevators worked well.I might see how some would find the trek to some of the rooms a bit much but for us it was perfect.

The concierge lounge was very good but was crowded during most of our visits.Food and drink were good. They could use a second coffee machine or an urn for those that just want a cup of regular coffee.Drinks were set out in the evening for no charge and the booze was of good quality.

The only negative we encountered was the lack of training amongst a few(actually just three frontline people) of the frontline staff people. The rest of the staff was great and very friendly. They are mostly non-british and seem unfamiliar with the city.We also found some of the staff(by no means not all but again all frontline)to be less than friendly/acommodating.

I would stay at this property again.

Thanks to all the flyertalkers who helped with this trip and a special shoutout to Sharon for all of her advice((((((SkiAdock))))

Chancery Court airport transportation

When searching London hotels with airport shuttles the Chancery Court is included in the list. This would be quite a benefit for an upcoming trip I'm planning. Has anyone used the airport transportation and how is this arranged? Is it free? I see nothing on the hotel facts page that mentions this. Thanks.

Of course it is not free. The hotels at LHR even charge you each way to and from the airport.

The best thing for you since you want the cheapest amd easiest way to the hotel is the Picadilly line to Holborn stop -- which has been discussed ad nauseum in this forum.

yea this used to throw me off as well, I thought as long as it didnt say Airport Transportation at a Fee or we can arrange it for you with an outside source . Then the Hotel actually had a shuttle van of their own that they ran for no charge

Once I reserved a Hampton Inn in SAV that was 1/2 hr from the airport cause believe it or not they ran a free shuttle both to the airport and downtown

But usually the further a Hotel is from an Airport the less likely they will run a free shuttle
