Not sure the name, but one I've had before. It has a separate living area with half bath, and smallish bedroom. Room ends in 10 on lower floor. Very happy to have it for a 4-5 night stay, after doing too many single night stays for FWN through July!

Fantastic Suite...I just stayed there...room 2710 to be exact...it was a surreal experience...I loved the space, bed, service and treatment I received the whole time.

[*]The toilet in the main bathroom (not the half bath) had a handful of stray pubes on it. Kinda gross, but I didn't care enough to complain.[/LIST]
.....sorry couldn't resist.... |

They still claim "Recently renovated" but the renovations were finished nearly 2 years ago. It was a cheap and nasty renovation, we went through 3 Fantastic Suites before giving up and just living with the faulty items in the room. Faulty A/C (Heating) units, both first rooms only had 1 working, one of which was falling out the wall with a huge gap Various lights not working Toilet leaking water Paint flaking/peeling off walls in the bathroom Dirty vents, mould etc Nothing special about this hotel, except the location for a first timer to NYC Will NEVER stay at the W again! |

The idea of the room is nice, but everything is falling part in these rooms.

The property looks nice in photos for tourists but the rooms are small the size of shoe box. Stay at the Sofitel if you must say in the Time Square area.

In regards to the physical state of the property - I've had minimal issues over around 10 stays in the last 3 months. The one item that I did have was the A/C blowing hot air during the summer. Maintenance was quick to arrive to my room and had the situation resolved in less than 20 min.

Even the iPod dock worked with my new iPhone 4 which I didn't think it would.

Is it worth popping 1500 points for an upgrade from a "wonderful room"? I'm gold, so if I'm going to get a room on a higher floor anyway, that's good to know.

Another lousy NYC-based W hotels experience. Arrived around 6pm and made it through the zoo in the lobby. Nicer front-desk staff than the Union Square, but no upgrade from Wonderful King and a really low floor. I pushed them some on this and they offered me a double on a slightly higher floor or an accessible on a fairly high floor. I took the accessible and groused some about the situation. They gave me a free water certificate and mentioned the 500 point amenity but failed to mention free internet. The room needed some maintenance love: the toilet ran, the shower had cracked tiles, and TV cables bulged from the metal housing.
An internet check of SPG.com revealed Spectacular King and Cool Corners available once I checked in, but I'd already fussed enough. I just cancelled the rest of my W stays in NY for the fall and will slink back to brands where I feel a bit more loved. It was a bit fun making the trip around town: Lex, Downtown, Union Square, and Times Square in a 6 week period. Now, if only they were fun places to stay... :) A few other quick comments on this property: Lobby was a total zoo friday evening. Gym was deserted Saturday morning. Internet was amazingly slow -- I'd have been pissed if i were paying $13.95/day for it. No HD for the Yankees/Rangers playoffs game. |

Emergency laundry situation taken care of late evening. Helpful concierge. Excellent meal at the restaurant downstairs. No issues with the internet or room maintenance or late check-out - 4 pm offered and accepted at check-in... Yes - by definition - anything in and around Times Square can be a Zoo. But for me, all and all a most wonderful stay at a really terrific property. Cheers, |

For those who do know these things, I can best describe it as a really large (at least for W, and also for NYC) one bedroom suite, very high floor (I closed all the curtains immediately because I have vertigo), separate bedroom and living rooms, two baths (one quite large), overlooking Times Square...
