Booked two rooms and used one SNA to upgrade to Fantastic suite (lower floor). The other "standard" room was not upgraded until I asked during check in. Ended up on two separate floors (the fantastic was on the 20th floor and the "corner" room was on the 54th), two separate elevators. The hotel did email me with the upsell to fantastic for $60 or $70 and marvelous for $90, which I did not partake thinking they would upgrade one of my room. Nope. furthermore, they charged me an extra $2 for the occupation tax since the fantastic is considered "two" room for this tax/fee. Did not select breakfast since we probably won't wake up in time. Never got a comp'd upgrade here ever.

I stayed here years ago and loved it. Now I'm looking for a place to celebrate my 500th night which marks my Platinum Lifetime status next month. My BFF and I meet up once a year for a theater trip, but she doesn't have a lot of extra cash and this year, neither do I. So I'm shocked to see the rates for this hotel are down for my dates. Not as low as I'd like, but close.
My friend is joining me for 2 of 4 nights. So I'd need a suite for at least those 2 nights. I don't have any SNAs, so I'm wondering what the suite UG possibilities are at this location. I'd love to stay here again! But the price of a suite is just too much when I'm only splitting the bill for 2 nights. And the rates jump like crazy for the night before my friend arrives. I know I have a decent deal at Sheraton, but we started out these trips at this W. Ugh! I want to stay here for my 500th night SO badly! Sadly, I don't see it in the stars. But that won't keep me from watching the rates, just in case! I sure miss this place! |

At my last stay, they offered upgrades to suites for $50-75. It was an offer found in the confirmation email... one of those adverts on the side we usually ignore. You can also contact the hotel directly and ask... never hurts. |

The rates were up today, but they're up and down all the time. I'm hoping to get in there, and as we usually don't have time for dinner, let alone a bar, that renovation wouldn't bother me. I'm hoping for deal- maybe with the renovations they're showing lower rates? They were yesterday! I ALMOST booked a suite at the AAA rate but it really was more than I could afford. This is 100% vacation, no work. Every dime comes from me. But I can still dream! ;)

A deal-breaker for me!! Almost stayed there last night.. Anyway, just finished a stay here. Booked two corners and got two corners (ie: no upgrades), both on 46F. If you look carefully, you can see why the place needs a refresh, but it's really not bad at all. Mostly things like tables that are fraying at the edge due to being knocked into one too many times. |
just returned for staying one night at the W time square, needless to say the rennovation has taken a toll of most entirely its lobby space and I just don't see how this propety falls into W standard, as the room I upgraded to with corner room has some cheap modern furniture where you have to stomp your foot to turn on a light, and fuzzy digital channels on tv, i do get the face hotel is in heart of time sq where you hear hustle and bustle of city , but a manual pull on the sun screen where you have to get out of your bed and do this just doesnt make it a W property.
another thing is you can forget about the instant reward being offered here, where the agent doesnt even have a single clue when asked. funny thing hotel asked to come back after rennovation, its a piety to even have this property under W brand. |
Anyone know if the fantastic suite or marvelous suite has a sofa bed?

Renovations complete
Anyone stayed here within the past month or so? Are the renovations complete?

Why is that a deal breaker? Just walk over to Blue Fin (connected via 1F), which has two bars (upstairs is less crowded), accepts the welcome drink coupons, and lets you sign to the room. (Blue Fin itself is going to close for two months for reno, but not until the fall I think.)
