Headed to SXM next week and we will be staying at the Westin for a few nights. Not expecting a lot from that property after reading the reviews but it is just for a few nights before the main attraction which is Anguilla. Speaking of Anguilla, what ever became of the SR that was supposed to go in there a while back? I would have loved to have seen that come to fruition.

Lightbulb List of Properties

Reviving an old thread here. Having recently completed a stay in Grand Cayman, I was looking to use some of my SNA's in 2015 in the Caribbean but am a bit surprised at how few properties there are (barring inclusion of Central American properties):

Cayman Islands (UK)
The Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa

Dominican Republic
Four Points by Sheraton Puntacana Village
Sheraton Santo Domingo Hotel
The Westin Puntacana Resort & Club

Puerto Rico (US)
Four Points by Sheraton Caguas Real Hotel & Casino
Sheraton Old San Juan Hotel & Casino
Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino
The St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort, Puerto Rico
W Retreat & Spa - Vieques Island

Sint Maarten (NL)
The Westin Dawn Beach Resort & Spa, St. Maarten

Virgin Islands (US)
The Westin St. John Resort & Villas

The website doesn't list any new properties, though rumors exist regarding a return to Aruba. Anyone got any insight as to whether they hope to expand in the Caribbean?

I think it is very sad that there are so few hotels. There are so many possibilities there and SO many people who travel to that area. As for the Anguilla property, the golf course was sold off to Cuisinart and the homes were developed as private homes. There was no hotel ever put in on that site. What a beautiful island.

Cool Bermuda Property?

Well, not in the Caribbean but it seems that we can add this to the SPG rumor pile:

Bermuda (UK)
St. Regis Bermuda

Anyone who has been to Bermuda knows that it is lacking real estate so this is a surprise if it is a new resort.

Caribbean hotels

Awesome addition if true. Makes no sense to me that Turks and Caicos doesn't have a *wood or Vuracao which seems to be a up and coming tourist spot, or Barbados.

Trying to bump up this thread. Wondering if folks have any updates on the general status of Marriott/SPG hotels impacted by the Hurricanes in the Caribbean in 2017? Some seem to be open and have availability but not all.

Funny you should ask. Yesterday, I looked @ the Westin Playa Conchal & the W Vieques - after good stays a few years ago. Both are closed due to last year's hurricane.
BTW, I also looked at the bioluminescent attraction in Vieques. Seems to be recovering. How does a hurricane dim such a wondrous natural phenomena?

Might be nice to have a ranking/discussion of recommended/not recommended Starriott properties.

I know St. Kitts is open and I recommend it. Good upgrades for PPE's, nice property, and good location/beach. I know Renn Carambola is closed although I used to like it.

Only if you stick with SPG properties.
