Correction - like you it was 2x (should be 6x for Marriott properties). He tried to fight it with both the Westin and with Chase but neither honored the fact that this was a Marriott property, up to the property how they decide to code it. We changed our payment method to CSR to at least get 3x for hotels since our stay is coming up soon, hopefully they fix this later. Thanks for the DP.

I really feel that those of us in the U.K. get a bad deal with credit cards.
Not only do they typically have much lower spend to points ratios - 1:1 Amex Platinum- for example but also we have to pay foreign exchange fees which are about 3%. I was planning on using my Amex Bonvoy card - that is also 6x in the U.K. on Marriot but the exchange fee is horrible. Whilst it may make sense on a large spend (although the fee would be larger the number of points would balance it out) on a low spend it is more like a tax. I expect I'll be paying for everything in Bora Bora next week when I visit on a non-points card with any fees. Weather question - I know it's tropical/wet season now - but in reality what does that mean? Will there be any sun? |
I called in to AmEx and they said they'd look into it. I don't know how much needs to be investigated when I'm using an AmEx Bonvoy card at a Westin Bonvoy property.
The difference between 2x and 6x is many thousands of Bonvoy points, so I hope they correct this for everyone. I will write to the Westin Bora Bora to inform them too. For now it's better to charge the fees to CSR. |

Is there a shuttle that runs between the resorts (StR and Westin) over dinner hours? If so, is there a cost?
I'm staying at the Westin for a week, however I really enjoy the Asian restaurant at StR and would like to visit at least once. |

I emailed them to ask this questions and here is the reply I got: It is possible to arrange a private boat from the Westin to the St Regis at a supplement of 10’000xpf per person, this transfer can be arranged with the concierge.

Any non-private shuttles that run periodically, or is this the only option?

Not when I emailed them last month, hopefully this is something they change.

So it's cheaper to arrange transport with StR for those wanting to go there. Their cost is 7300 xpf/pp.

Does anyone know the difference between the two room categories available on points without a cash upgrade? I can't tell which would be considered better, though one is priced slightly higher as a cash rate.

Also wondering, for people that have been, if 7 nights is too long. I'm debating 5 here and 2 at StR...I have to decide today though. I have stayed at StR, and it's great but a bit dated. |

Exactly, yet one seems to be priced higher in cash.
