The restaurant is now open, but Westin Las Vegas continues going downhill rapidly. All of the things that I liked about this property are gone. Resort fee is $29+ and widely imposed on everyone with no additional perks for Platinum, no full breakfast buffet for without paying an upgrade fee. Platinum breakfast is one of the skimpiest seen at a Westin composed of coffee, some pastries, yogurt and whole fruit (apples, bananas, oranges) with no attempt to even make it appear attractive. No more afternoon gatherings with refreshments and appetizers. Too many other options in Las Vegas to bother going back to this property

Stayed here last weekend and asked about alternative amenity for platinum internet. Was immediately given a 10$ credit this was acceptable to me as the room rate was only 49$.

Yes, interesting.........definitely going downhill rapidly. I too would like to know if they have eliminated the buffet breakfast for Plats? Yikes, not much left here - I see JordanYVR got a $49.00 rate - where did you find that? Was that a BRG?

With the 1000 promo points, 500 welcome points, and regular + elite points, it was quite the deal.

I very much agree. My last stay here was a year ago and have never had a top notch experience. Since I have chosen SLS and enjoyed myself.

NEVER stay here if you expect Platinum amenities
In the middle of my stay now. I've stayed several times over the past few years as a LIFETIME PLATINUM member and each time I am more disappointed. This trip many of the existing problems from previous visits still exist, like the smell of cesspool when you get off the elevators on the 16th floor, but I digress. They finally did it. They reduced what once used to be a decent breakfast amenity to a few old pastries and a couple of cups of yogurt and bananas. ON THE BUSSING TABLE hidden behind a partition because it is so embarrassing. They want you to pay the upcharge for an actual breakfast with a bagel and some real fruit. The Platinum breakfast isn't even healthy. Let's forget the AMENITY FEE which is worthless because it includes everything that a Platinum is supposed to receive anyway as a Platinum member. This place is a joke and is NOT a category 5 property. SPG WAKEUP!?

I am going to be so happy when SPG/Marriott finally fully merge; Cosmo (Autograph) is going to be the obvious best place in Las Vegas in the program.

I have stayed here for the past 8 years ( 3 X / year for 6 nights each ) sometimes 4 times. I totally agree that they have completely minimized this place which is absolutely sad! I liked it, I really did but there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to give them any loyalty now.
I am back in April and might regret this but am going to try the SLS out ( I got a $16 rate on a New Years Day Special ) I normally would have never thought about staying anywhere else regardless of price but not anymore. I know the SLS is not convenient and have heard some horror stories from there - but hey, The Westin lost my business so I will try this out. If it doesn't work out then I will find something else that does with the umpteen choices in Las Vegas.

I've stayed here 3 years in a row now, first year as PLT - previously gold. I'm on the 17th floor and there is no cesspool elevator smell like last year on the 11th floor, so far. I did email them about that last year and received 4k SPG points as a goodwill gesture.
No PLT suite or room upgrade besides high floor view. I spoke politely with the staff about the "Amenity Fee" - which is reduced by $10 for Platinums - expressing how I feel it doesn't really provide for anything usable beyond my benefits and they did take off 2 nights of the fee but only because the pool is closed for renovations. New management is strict on the fee otherwise. I've been told the pool will be seasonal only after renovations, no more hot tub also. The fee will become a "Destination Fee" of $32/night soon plus tax (if not already, mine was locked in at $24.99 since I booked months ago, -$10 PLT reduction). Apparently the fee will include some new perks (drink coupons?). No car on this trip, but otherwise includes parking which is conveniently located.
The J&E breakfast staff was very attentive and friendly only good things to say about them.
I really want to like this hotel and keep it as my go to. I like this hotel's location and really want to keep coming back as during CES it has provided a reasonable rate with a reservation/cancelation policy that I can lock in early pending my client confirmation, etc. I love the easy access to rooms with no casino maze, easy access to Uber, the classic Stage Door dive bar down the street, and walkable to In-N-Out and other restaurants at the LINQ (where my colleagues often stay as Westin is sold out). That said they need to offer some sort of value for this "Amenity/Resort/Destination Fee" and make the PLT breakfast better.
I'm here until Friday - will see how it goes. That said I would consider opting for the SLS as of now if rates were similar, having stayed there once before as gold. Haven't tried the Cosmo yet but usually thats out-of-budget for most clients.

Update: The 17th floor smelled like sewage at about 10pm tonight also.
Edited to add: It was raining that day.

Glad that I wasn't imagining anything. Moved to the Hilton Vacation Club RIGHT next to the Westfield and I am amazed. Not only doesn't it smell but the rooms are spectacular and the location is great. Perfect for CES. Great staff. Checked out the W last night ( I didn't know there was one here) and it blows the Westin away. It is attached to the SLS.
