Updating this for both pre and post-COVID
No hotel shuttle to town - definitely axed pre-COVID
Toiletries inconsistent - out of the combination of shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion, more often than not there will be some combination missing, or less likely, duplicated
All food and beverage closed due to COVID - initially due to AK law but now reopening is permitted, Marriott corporate deemed it not profitable to reopen F&B in the meantime
Thermostat tends to work inconsistently if at all
Housekeeping mediocre - found trash bins not emptied etc from previous guest on numerous occasions

From last time I was there 2 months ago:
Kitchen back open for take-out only, dine-in was not available still.
Bar still closed.
Lounge I believe still closed? Last time I looked all the furniture inside was removed and trash was starting to pile up.
Can't comment re: upgrades.
Rooms no recent renovations. Some have newer TV's which are nice and some have TV's straight out of 2001.

I just finished a one-night stay so offering an update.
Club Lounge hours are 6:30-11a and 5-7p. I didnt confirm weekend breakfast hours, but did notice a turned-around sign directing guests to use vouchers in the restaurant so expect thats the weekend breakfast arrangement. Hot breakfast offerings were scrambled eggs, potatoes, and several meats with a decent array of continental-type stuff as well. Thumbs up for a toaster that actually works. The two staffers were seated at a table watching videos on speaker during my visit. 🙄
No material room updates since the last reports; bathrooms are dated and furniture is definitely showing its age but the bed and chair were comfortable and the blackout curtains did their job well.
My assigned room was on the club floor with a mountain view so I believe a slight upgrade. Bonus view of the runway of nearby Merrill Field for those who enjoy that.
As noted by others, the property is on the edge of downtown, a 10-15 minute walk to most restaurants, etc. Fine by me, though YMMV.
