phantom stay?
I have a weird situation. I show a stay at the JW Marriott Phu Quoc in my account. It credited points and everything. The only thing is, I didn't make the reservation or stay there. It was a three night stay if it matters. It shows completion as of January 1.
I do not show anything on my credit card statement as of yet though. No pre authorization nor actual charges.
Any ideas? Does this happen? I am thinking about reporting it. I know, I would forfeit the points but I would rather do the correct thing.

Have you ever stayed (or booked) there before? If the hotel already has your Bonvoy details, then they might have been mistakenly applied to somebody else sharing your name. It's far less likely that somebody hacked your account and booked a stay using your payment details - the named guest trick wouldn't work in Vietnam.
But calling Bonvoy to have the stay removed from your account wouldn't do anything at all to ensure that the points and stay credit find their way to the actual guest. I wouldn't feel bad about doing nothing and accepting the "gift"

I would report it - so that there is a paper trail in case a fraud investigation or audit occurs. This has happened to me with a ghost stay in Macau at a property I had never visited - someone mis-typed the number and landed on mine. I reported it, and it was removed.

I have stayed at that hotel. About 2 years ago. Maybe a year and a half. I also had a NYE reservation there two years ago.
I doubt it was a name mix up. My name is VERY unique. I literally have met one other person with my last name in my life. I have never met anyone with the same name.
I am worried about a fraud claim or whatever. But i didn't even have a reservation at the hotel. Would it make sense for someone to impersonate me? I know they wouldn't get the points, but I am ambassador. I suppose they could take the benefits while they stayed there?

- M số thuế (Tax Code):
- M khch hng (Customer Code): 9196820XXXXXXX

Looks like Khach Le? The customer code and Fkey No. is blocked out incase it is important.
