The Moxy Banff is currently the only Marriott property in Banff, AB, Canada, after the departure of the Delta Royal Canadian Lodge several years ago. This property used to be the Voyager Inn, constructed in 1964. The hotel is near the start of Banff Avenue as you're coming into town, so it's a bit of a walk to the main tourist areas. But, it's nice to have an option in Banff, again!

I stayed one night for the Made with Love: Banff Food and Cocktail Festival. Moxy Banff was a participating vendor.




The property is very nicely renovated. The large indoor space houses the check-in desk and bar, with plenty of seats and fireplaces to relax at. There's Jenga, chess, and an electronic hockey game around. The hotel is currently featuring live music on Saturday nights. The two-player arcade gaming table was broken.






In one corner is a VW “food truck”, which was really just a fancy counter to the kitchen behind it. I also saw a meeting room and a fully equipped bike room. I'm guessing the bikes can be borrowed?







We stayed in a Guest room, 1 King, Mountain view, Balcony. The balcony faced the inner courtyard with the pool and hot tub. Room was small, but nicely decorated and functional.

The one thing that really annoyed us was the temperature control. The heater only ran when there's motion, leading to a rather chilly night. The room would warm up every time someone got up and triggered the motion sensor. But, the room would cool down again while we were asleep.







Room upgrade and late check-out were both denied. The check-in person said they were 89% occupied for the night. Overall, it was fine for a one-night stay. I'd stay again if the rate's decent!

That's a good size room for a Moxy! Is this the base room, or did you book a category above basic? And, nice to see some local character in the room (i.e. the ski lift chair).

I booked one above. The base room lacks a balcony.

The room had other local touches like old postcards, a camping lantern, and a map of the national park. The stuffed animal head on the wall was cute, too!

Does moxy as a brand not participate in late check out or room upgrades?

Or is this classified as a resort?

Or is this property already not adhering to program terms? I've never stayed in a moxy so don't know

I think they were just really full for the weekend.

Being full does not excuse them for a guaranteed late check out? I have never stayed at a Moxy either so not sure as to what the rules are - there are too many across the brands to remember.

Considering a stay there next week since the rates are good, but reviews are scarce since they�ve just opened. So far reviews on Google Map from people claiming to be elites are low since the property seems to deny elite benefits including upgrades and breakfast benefit.. did they give you the option to choose F&B credit?

I can see denying upgrades if they purport to be full, but I�m not sure how they�d be denying breakfast?! I�ll be there as a platinum in June, so I�m hoping they will have been made to accept the breakfast obligation by then!

There is no breakfast obligation at Moxy. It�s $10 daily F&B voucher, for up to two guests.

I chose the $10 F&B option. It doesn't go very far as everything on the menu is over $10. This is the B.E.C. Bagel at $14.

We stayed at the new Moxy on Thursday before the May long weekend. It was a great experience and a pretty cool hotel. We didn't use the pool but I liked the courtyard layout with the fire tables and the pools. The front of the hotel with the multi level concrete and sitting areas looks like a great place to hang out on a sunny day.

I am a gold member and we received the complimentary welcome drinks and I ask for a room upgrade and we were given a king with two twins instead of our two queen and balcony room. Also asked for a late check out and they offered noon which was fine. We were actually out of there by 11 anyways so that we could do some hiking.

The room was a great size and a great layout. It was nice that the twin bed area for the kids was off in one corner and separated from the king by the middle bathroom. The only thing that could probably be added would be a smaller second tv for the twin bed area.

We liked the complimentary games like bubble hockey and others although the multi video game table seemed to have some broken buttons already and it wouldn't select other games in the menu (only the first game was available.) The comp pretzels and gummy worms were a nice touch.

Overall it was a good experience and probably worth another stay depending on price although I've seen some rates upwards of $400 which probably isn't worth it but this is Banff so there aren't many deals to be had.

On the last weekend, I stayed at here by paying 400 usd on one night and chase free night on the second night. Thankfully with Amex's Marriott offer, it came down to effectively 250. Really enjoyed the hotel but I guess Moxy brand wasn't right for us despite our age (we're millennials.)

No upgrade for gold - our room faced to the next hotel up close. It was still technically a mountain view room as advertised if I look to the left outside the balcony.
$25 for parking per night but it was easy to find free street parking spots nearby.
Two beds toe-to-toe layout was interesting and probably good to sleep with young kids.
Kids-friendly with many items to make them busy.
One night had a live music which was good but unfortunately not many audiences. The other night had loud EDM until 10pm and the whole lobby area felt like a club.
A&W next door, good for breakfast and late night snack. Also a gas-station convenient store next door.
That's good because the room doesn't have microwave, kettle, or refrigerator. Looks like we can borrow kettle and I saw ice coolers probably for in-room use. There's a microwave at the grab-and-go area. Free coffee at the grab-and-go area.

This is one of the best options for the chase free night, in my opinion. Wish to go back to this hotel and Banff.

I have been planning a stay at the Moxy Banff for August 2025 with my husband, and I have made a number of reservation changes, the most recent of which was a cancellation yesterday of a redemption stay for 52K points. I did not receive the points back in my account, so my husband contacted Marriott's Titanium customer today (I'm currently on a business trip in Japan). The rep insisted that the points were credited back to my account...in April. This was for a separate cancellation. I have clear proof on my account activity in the app that I made a reservation and it was canceled; I have the original confirmation number and the cancellation number I received by email yesterday. But the rep insisted that both numbers "do not exist," and I can't find an email address for the hotel. If there is a Marriott representative monitoring this thread, I would be very grateful if I could get this rectified asap. Thanks!

It seems like this hotel is playing games by blocking out weekends on points. Sad
