Our bill came to about $6,200 for 10 nights. That was for a few ala Carter lunches, seaplane for 2 adults and 1 kid, 4 days half board, 5 days full board plus, a nightly $75 kid supplement, and a bunch of activities. Could have definitely got by with less and could have also gone higher with things like Tabemasu, spa, etc.

Thats a great use of certs, as they've updated the rooms to where it was difficult to use mine

What's this $75 nightly kid supplement?

Great review Sam P. Goodman.

We’re just sat in the airport lounge at the airport on our way home after a couple of days at The Sheraton following 10 days at Le Meridien.

As a data point, as two adults we spent $4,700. We ate at Tabemasu the first evening off-plan and then the rest of the trip on Full Board Plus. The bill included transfers; four water sports activities for two; one spa treatment; mixology class and cocktails at Riviera three evenings.

I completely agree with everything you’ve said.

A couple of points to add…

The mixology class with Deepak was fab. It was held at Tabemasu and we got three tastes of half cocktails, which Deepak made, and then we made our own Mezcal Old Fashioneds, which we smoked before drinking. The class included some nibbles from Tabemasu.

We considered all of the activities to be good value. We did a standup paddle board lesson, which was cheaper than a lesson locally in the UK.

The dive centre team is fab. Enthusiastic, friendly and super caring. We’re not that confident in water and did three snorkel trips, including a night snorkel, all of which added something different.

I’d highly recommend doing an early morning snorkel with one of the dive centre team early in your trip. We saw turtles, stingrays, a barracudas and shark. The real benefit was that they talked us through where to go and where to avoid.

Be aware that sea planes can land parallel to and not far from the house reef. Wear something that makes you visible!

The only disappointment of the trip was the food at Tabemasu. It’s not that it’s bad - just overpriced for what it is. Unless you live somewhere without good sushi then I’d avoid.

The gym is excellent - whether you want to do yoga, cardio, machine weights, free weights or even CrossFit. There’s something for everyone.

The Full Board Plus drinks menu is very limited - one each of a sparkling, white, rose and red wine and limited selection of cocktails - all of which varied between Velaa and Turquoise. Importantly, it was never enforced - in practice we were able to drink anything off the all inclusive menu. But, we know how to say please and thank you. YMMV.

Politeness to the staff pays dividends - probably more so than tipping. Just saying.

Finally, it’s a sign of a good resort when it’s hard to decide who to tip at the end of a stay.

I’ll post some stuff on the Sheraton thread, but LM is head and shoulders better - both the hard and soft product. And everything at the Sheraton was more expensive.

I just booked sunrise OWV over Thanksgiving week - 5 days 210k points (which should be 4x50k = 200k, but whatever) yesterday. Beach villa was also available for 160k
I had also looked at booking 5 days in December at the same rates.

Today, the redemption rates are the same. So maybe rates aren't going up so much?

It looks like available peak nights in Jan/Feb are 40K points for base rooms, so maybe they have not updated Le Meridien Maldives yet. These should be going up to 60K.

Seems that the increase didn't happen yet.

On the number of points for 'upgraded' room, you get 5th night free for the basic room, but you still need to 'pay' the upgrade for the 5th night. So it is 4 nights x 40k points (5th night free) + 5 x 10k for upgrade from Beach Bungalow to OWV. So together 210k points you paid.

Yeah, it looks like the changes roll out late Eastern Time today per this article:

Sam, thanks for the review. If Westin and Le Meridien were the same cost in points which would you pick?

Depends on your situation, I suppose. If you want seclusion and a big villa, Westin makes sense. If you want watersports and more accessible seas, I think LM is better.

For us, LM wins.

Thanks for the review! The $75 kid supplement included breakfast, what if you are Plat or above? Typically we get our daughters breakfast comp’ed as Titanium members. She sleeps with us in the King bed (small kid). We booked the LM base room for six nights.

I'm Titanium. Breakfast amenity was honored for 2 of us. The $75 for our daughter was for the privilege of crashing on the couch and breakfast. Meal plan pricing is adjusted accordingly ($30 credit adults and $15 kids).

when I went in November, I didn't have to pay that. Is your daughter a little older maybe? My son was only 4 when I went.
