In Heather's present role at The St. Regis Aspen and in the history of the resort, she has driven all hotel metrics to their peak levels, achieving highest ADR, RevPAR, RevPAR Index, GOP, EBITDA and F&B Margin. Her hotel has achieved Best in Class for Meeting Planner Satisfaction and substantially improved Guest Satisfaction metrics. Her performance excellence earned her both General Manager of the Year, Western Region and General Manager of the Year, The Americas in 2016.

Agreed - this hotel has, by design, have sent a strong message they don't want people booking with points, period. They believe the demographic they want is the money is no object folks who throw down a black card - not business travelers saving up points to mingle with the well heeled.....

It is what it is.

good for the opp to get it resolved.

question - what would happen if you checked in via the app, but then never showed?

You would be treated as a no-show.

Yet ... they want to have a name from the program.

Or maybe she is following the directives of the owner, who is focused on the short term.

If you click on the link about her promotion, there seems to be a whole list of properties to avoid.

Glad we don't ski.

Well yeah I’m sure her financial numbers were pretty good

Well that's interesting...it looks like the post with the link to her promotion has disappeared.

I recall that she seems to be now in charge of most of the higher end Bonvoys in ski areas - I recall in addition to the St. Regis Aspen she'll also have the Ritz Carlton Lake Tahoe, the W Aspen when it opens, The Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch and the St. Regis Deer Valley. It seemed to be public information.

Clearly someone likes the cut of her job.

I agree. But there's also a discussion on FT about another upscale hotel, this time in Paris, that is declining a points reservation because they want someone else's cash instead. We're seeing high-end properties refusing, or at least resisting, to take points. Maybe this is a consequence of the merger, maybe not. Marriott seems to be OK with this: and why not? They can advertise that their program can get you into an aspirational property, without actually having to provide it.

Just in case there is a backlash and the article disappears:

”Heather Steenge-Hart has been promoted by Marriott International to Area General Manager, Luxury Mountain Resorts - Western region. Following significant success in her role as General Manager at The St. Regis Aspen Resort, Heather will now manage The Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch, The Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe, The St. Regis Deer Valley, the soon-to-open W Aspen, in addition to her present hotel.”
