A : Double points are only applicable to the base points you’ll earn on a stay.

If you just check out and check in from your current room, without having a break in between then it will count as one stay
It will be a different hotel. I need to travel to another city for a one night stay and wasn’t going to bother checking out of my current hotel (the other city is super cheap to stay in) and was tossing up between staying at a Hyatt which looks nicer (and I am Globalist) vs Sheraton which may help me bank an extra 35k points on the Ritz stay.

Then I'd just take the Sheraton, if it works great, if it does not, nothing really lost.

there is a strong chance this may not work....if you have 2 stays in 2 different marriott properties at the same time then only one will count....also, the chances are they will only count your one night stay at the sheraton since that will post first....

FAQ says stays straddling end date count.
is that only for the nights that fall in the promo or would I get promo points for the entire stay?

Booking a 20 night stay starting June 1.

I would think that there is no way Marriott’s IT is capable of breaking down the expenses on a daily basis. They will probably give out bonus points on the entire folio. But I have no data to back that up. Perhaps one of the Lurkers can chime in, or feel free to report back at the end of your stay.

You should get bonus points for the entire stay as long as it meets the terms and conditions of the promotion.

I mean the FAQ says “Likewise, if you check-in before June 4, that stay will count as a Double Take stay, even if you check out after.”

It should mean checking in before 23:59 June 4, not 00:01 June 4, right? So my understanding is that I should be getting the bonus if I check in before 23:59 June 4. Am I right?

Thank you!

Check in before June 4th, would need to be 23:59 on June 3rd the latest. Once it is 00:01 June 4th, you are no longer before June 4th. Then it would be check in by June 4th.

Just logged in to see if my bonus points had posted from a recent stay and only to discover the bonus is from the second stay. D'uh! For those of us who are not road warriors and used to benefit from the quarterly promotion on a single stay - ! That I could not even register with a click and had to take the time to register by phone - more !

I am questioning my math skills with the current "Double Take: Earn double points" promotion. In the promotions T&C it says "The double points earning is only applicable to members’ base points earned per stay."

Here are my recent credits and the Extra points (which I assume are the promotion credits?) are not double the Base points.

My Elite points (50% of Base points) are always calculated correctly though.

2 night stay:
+5,300 Points
(1,920 Base + 960 Elite + 2,420 Extra)

2 night stay:
+6,155 Points
(2,262 Base + 1,131 Elite + 2,762 Extra)

1 night stay:
+4,335 Points
(1,334 Base + 667 Elite + 2,334 Extra)

3 night stay:
+18,625 Points
(7,050 Base + 3,525 Elite + 8,050 Extra)

Is my or Marriott's math off?

Looks right? Depends on whether you stayed at a property that gifts 500 or 1000 welcome points

Also, i track this in a spreadsheet and have had no issues with the bonus posting. My only issues have been MAGC and when I split a folio, it got all wacky.

@bubbelbine, the problem is Marriott’s 1990’s IT is incapable of breaking down points earnings into more than 3 categories. So “Extra” is used as a catch all for anything that isn’t base points or elite bonus. This includes welcome amenity, MAGC, and any other bonuses that may be in effect.
