How will my Eligible Status Years for 2022 be applied to my Account and when?

If you maintained the same Elite status in 2022 that you started with in 2022 , your 2022 Eligible Status Year for your current status will be applied to your Account in January 2023.

If you achieved a higher Elite status during 2022, your 2022 Eligible Status Year for the new, higher tier was applied at the time of achievement.

If you did not meet the published criteria to renew your current status in 2022, your 2022 Eligible Status Year for your current status will be added in January 2023, and your Eligible Status Year for your new status will be added in March 2023 when your Elite status is updated.

===

When will my 2021 qualifying year of Elite status be applied to my Account so I can track my path to Lifetime Elite Status?

As part of our regular process, Members receive their qualifying year towards Lifetime Elite status in one of two ways:
  1. If you maintain the same Elite level that you started the year with, your Qualifying Year of Elite status will be applied to your Account in January of the following year. Please Note: In November 2021, when we extended the Elite status that Members earned in 2019 or 2020, Members received their 2021 Qualifying Year of Elite status.
  2. If you achieve a higher Elite level during the year than the previous year, your Qualifying Year for the new, higher level will be applied at the time of achievement. Please Note: If you achieved a higher Elite level during 2021, your 2021 qualifying year of Elite status, was applied at the time of achievement.

If you maintain the same Elite level for 2022, your 2022 year of Elite status will be applied to your Account in January 2023. If you achieve a higher Elite level during 2022, your 2022 year of tenure for the new, higher level will be applied at the time of achievement.

Examples:
  • A Member achieved Gold Elite in 2019 and enjoyed the status in 2020. They received their 2020 year of Gold Elite status in July 2020 when we extended their status. Due to status extensions, the Member received their 2021 year of tenure in November 2021 when they their status was extended to February 2023.
  • A Member achieved Platinum Elite in 2020 and enjoyed the status in 2021. They received their 2021 year of Platinum status in November 2021 when they their status was extended to February 2023.
  • A Gold Elite Member achieved Platinum Elite in April 2021; the Platinum year of Elite status for 2021 was applied upon achievement (in April 2021).

Is there any value in these cards -- I've never had to show or use one. Unfortunately they eventually make it to the junk drawer or trash can. Am I missing something?

Some folks really value this sort of thing and in fact have inquired of the Lurkers about the possibility on more than one occasion, IIRC. But any true practical value? Can't imagine.

Does anyone know with certainty how the lifetime years counter works?

I currently have 74 nights for 2019, and 8 platinum years. Does that mean that on or about 1/1/2020, the counter will roll over to 9 platinum years -- and next year will be the last year for me to have to earn platinum status before I reach Lifetime Platinum (which will credit on or about 1/1/2021)?

Or, do I have to earn platinum status two more times (ie: 50+ nights in 2020 and 50+ nights in 2021)

Or, is this nondeterministic, and it might be one or the other, depending on "reasons"?

Thanks in advance!

How many lifetime nights do you have?

Over 600, so the only thing left that matters for me is the years.

I can't take credit for this, but funny post on the Bonvoy FB group page. Someone got their titanium card postage due.

"Funny story in the context of Marriott’s shortcomings since the merger. We got a bill in the mail from the post office for 1.75. Our post office is let’s just say is challenged... my wife had to go to the post office and took the request with her to see what the additional collection was for.

The additional postage due was for this really cool brag tag. I’m really not sure what to do with it! It weights easily 3 times the Amex Platinum card! I’m certainly not going to carry it! Maybe a paperweight!

Nice thought but kinda useless."

My addition:

Titanium, the highest level yet least valuable of the Marriott metals. Now if their Titanium cards were made of platinum that would be something.

I had started a separate thread beck in January on this topic. Following 2018, I had earned the new, highest and grandfathered lifetime level. First, it was Platinum Premier Elite and now Titanium. However, my number of Platinum years was not totaled correctly (9 vs. 11). Fortunately, it was corrected in May. Phew! I have not received the aforementioned heavy, shiny Lifetime Titanium card yet.

I would also appreciate an answer to this. I am in a similar boat - I have 79 nights so far this year and my lifetime tracker shows 8 nights Platinum. I am hoping my activity this year will get me to 9 years, so 2020 will be the last year (assuming I qualify, which I expect to do). I am at 505 lifetime nights, with 20 more confirmed 2019. I will easily make the additional 75 nights to get to 600 in 2020.

So for CopperSteve and some dude's benefit (and because I am in the exact same position as the two of them/ 8 years platinum, 546 lifetime nights) here is post 773. I think that means we're all good; with 8 current years status, if we requalify this year and again in 2020 we're golden. Sorry, bad choice of words. We're Lifetime Platinum.

Thumbs up Lifetime Titanium Package - very nice!

I just got my Lifetime Titanium welcome kit. Very fancy. Nice materials with a magnetically closed information pouch, and the metal membership card. The card seems heavy for its size. Does anyone know if it is actually made of Titanium?

I'm also wondering if it is enough to trigger the scanners in the airport if I have it in my wallet in my pocket.

I'd be happy to just receive a "membership card." Ever since the LT Titanium sweep that we had to wait a long time for, I've asked Marriott how to get a membership card. I've been told, "it's on line" [no, because the online "card" does not show the name of the LT Titanium member nor elite phone numbers] or "We don't send actual membership cards any more."

I did get the laptop case / pens from a couple months back, but I thought that went to a broader audience.
Laptop case and pens? Not to this audience...

I wonder if they'll send this kit to LT who also qualified for Ambassador? Because I got the plastic Ambassador card, but suspect if I ever dip below the Ambassador threshold and ask for a LT kit, they'll say they don't make them anymore...

Was thinking this very same thing. Likely they wouldn’t want to send a LT Titanium kit to an Amb member and create confusion. And yeah, likely this is a one-time thing, so...

But I can’t think of any real-world use case for the card/package, so I’m not going to mourn much. Just wish I’d been ‘surprised or delighted’ with recent award stays or something!
