How will my Eligible Status Years for 2022 be applied to my Account and when?

If you maintained the same Elite status in 2022 that you started with in 2022 , your 2022 Eligible Status Year for your current status will be applied to your Account in January 2023.

If you achieved a higher Elite status during 2022, your 2022 Eligible Status Year for the new, higher tier was applied at the time of achievement.

If you did not meet the published criteria to renew your current status in 2022, your 2022 Eligible Status Year for your current status will be added in January 2023, and your Eligible Status Year for your new status will be added in March 2023 when your Elite status is updated.

===

When will my 2021 qualifying year of Elite status be applied to my Account so I can track my path to Lifetime Elite Status?

As part of our regular process, Members receive their qualifying year towards Lifetime Elite status in one of two ways:
  1. If you maintain the same Elite level that you started the year with, your Qualifying Year of Elite status will be applied to your Account in January of the following year. Please Note: In November 2021, when we extended the Elite status that Members earned in 2019 or 2020, Members received their 2021 Qualifying Year of Elite status.
  2. If you achieve a higher Elite level during the year than the previous year, your Qualifying Year for the new, higher level will be applied at the time of achievement. Please Note: If you achieved a higher Elite level during 2021, your 2021 qualifying year of Elite status, was applied at the time of achievement.

If you maintain the same Elite level for 2022, your 2022 year of Elite status will be applied to your Account in January 2023. If you achieve a higher Elite level during 2022, your 2022 year of tenure for the new, higher level will be applied at the time of achievement.

Examples:
  • A Member achieved Gold Elite in 2019 and enjoyed the status in 2020. They received their 2020 year of Gold Elite status in July 2020 when we extended their status. Due to status extensions, the Member received their 2021 year of tenure in November 2021 when they their status was extended to February 2023.
  • A Member achieved Platinum Elite in 2020 and enjoyed the status in 2021. They received their 2021 year of Platinum status in November 2021 when they their status was extended to February 2023.
  • A Gold Elite Member achieved Platinum Elite in April 2021; the Platinum year of Elite status for 2021 was applied upon achievement (in April 2021).

Hear, hear!

If we get savagely Bonv°yed and give up on our hard-earned Lifetime Platinum Elite status and benefits, the bad guys win.

Don't let the bumbling Bonv°y bureaucrats banish you. Fight the good fight. Hold them to their Terms & Conditions.

We've been Bonv°yed and we're not going to take it anymore!

I was pleasantly surprised when I asked them to go back and count my Delta stays after Marrriott acquired them. Gave me the extra 5 years I needed and made lifetime Platinum. Just one email and it was done.

The thing is, there must be some members who did not have status from the 2019 qualifying year (so didn't have status to be extended, or to have a year increment in mid-year), but then did earn status (or a higher status) with stays in the second half of 2020. These people would still be waiting for the typical non-pandemic early-in-the-year sweep to get their year of credit. There can't be too many people like this, whose stays increased during the pandemic, but with 100 million members, surely there must be some.

The response from Bonvoy suggests that no annual sweep was done at all in early 2021, or will be done.

"The Lifetime Elite status will update sometime in July or August 2021. We do not have an exact date as of yet. Your Lifetime years will update then."

This is not a win, this is just Marriott being Marriott. Kicking the can down the road.

Looks like this is Marriott CS reply to 1 customer, not an official statement by Marriott.

So, I've just updated my iOS Bonvoy app and the description for this update suggests that this new release will fix incorrect lifetime nights "for some users in some instances"

The update hasn't nudged my lifetime years forward yet: I'm still sitting at 9 years and 687 nights. Like many above, mine has been stuck at this level since last year so I'm not even sure if it's correct or not and sadly my recollection is probably little better than Marriott's IT folks!

You're right. It does contain that thrilling line in the app update description. I almost-never read such things. Like you, I updated but still I'm at eight LTP years. On reflection, whatever it fixes, it's unlikely to change the Lifetime count issue that we're discussing as the calculation and source data will be on servers and not on a phone app which is just displaying data from a source deep within the IT system. At least, anyone would programme the system in that way wouldn't they? I mean, it's how you do it. Having said that, I've never understood how and why the web site data updates at different times to the app data when a stay posts (often the web site is first) and why the different fields (night count, points count, stay details) post at different times. It suggests different databases for the web site and the app and a heavy use of batch processing to update records which may have been cutting-edge in the 1970s but is hardly how systems are designed these days when real-time transaction processing is the norm.

Anyway, a good spot there. Somebody's doing something related to lifetime year counts anyway.

I'm in this bucket but I have no idea if / when my counter increased in 2020, but I know for sure it hasn't gone up in 2021. I also know that my account is showing more years at PL than I earned unless SPG Gold converted into years of Marriott PL. Does anyone know if that's the case - SPG Gold = Marriott PL?
