Clarification from Starwood Lurker in post 125:
- In regards to the part of the offer where you can earn 1,000 points for trying a new brand…There is no minimum length of stay, but you only earn it starting with the second brand. So if you only stay at one brand during the promo period, you will not earn this bonus. But if you stay at 2 or more brands, you will earn 1,000 points for each of those brands after the first one even if the stay is only one night.
- You earn on every stay of 2+ nights, so it isn’t about accumulating nights. If you have two stays of 1 night each, you will not earn a bonus. If you have two accounts, you may register for MegaBonus with either or both accounts. You will only be able to earn with one account at a time because you will earn the bonus points in whichever account the stay was booked with. Example: If you have two accounts that are not combined: If you register for MegaBonus with your SPG number and stay with your SPG number, you will earn the bonus points in your SPG account. If you register for MegaBonus with your SPG number but book your stay with your MR number, you will not earn bonus points.

William has told us he is only posting in the SPG forum for now. Since mods merged the threads, does this mean we won’t get a response?
See post # 258.

I think I clarified later (but not in that thread), that except for the legacy Marriott Rewards forum, we would post to the combined forum whenever something unique arose that did not appear in the legacy SPG forum.

Fair point however there needs to be something worth earning for the days to be included. From my perspective there has been no promo since the last one ended and Jan 7th, so best part of 6 months!

William, I'm glad you started this thread since you aren't answering questions on the other forum.
1) For the bonus points on the different brands, does it have to be a 2 night stay to count, or will 1 night suffice?
2) For those of us with uncombined accounts, I'm guessing, points don't start until the 2nd night in each account. Can you confirm?

Whatever your first brand during the promotional period might be, you get no credit for that (initial) brand stay, nor can you get credit for that brand later during the promo at all? It's completely ineligible?

ETA: what a mess. Called in, system doesn't recognize my phone number. Which is funny because it did yesterday when I called for something else. Rep first said that she thought that Marriott was no longer doing the bonus promotion (before interrupting herself and saying she needed to check something), then came back with a status challenge offer, finally after going around again, claims she enrolled me in the Megabonus promotion but won't appear in my account until I log out & log back in. Of course, it still isn't there.

Wasn't one of the prior promotions like this? 1000 points starting with second brand, and also night accrual starting with second stay? IIRC you just treat it like two separate promotions.

I was logged in, then clicked the link from the wiki.
The reason for this error could be:
A note about this promotion: I don't think I care enough to work through this thread and/or support to find a way to register. My money will go to Hilton.

Count me amongst the many for whom two night stays are not really a thing.
The real MegaBonus is the friends we made along the way.
Yeah, you can stay 59 nights and earn 2k points too.
Each of those 12 stays are definitely going to be at a different brand too. 12 brands is easy.
All we have to do is stay 12 stays with exactly two nights each at a different brand every stay.
Then we will unlock an ultimate category 5 reward.
The journey begins.. M e g a b o n u s

Agree this is mediocre and counterproductive. For example you have a St. Regis or JW guest with a multi-night stay. She gets zippo bonus on the high-rev stay, and then you want her to downgrade his next stay to a Four Points or Fairfield just to meet the 2-brand requirement? Idiotic. She will just go to Hyatt where she can use an upgrade cert for the first stay or to Hilton where she gets 12%.
Marriott needs to incent the high spend high rev customers, not the guy who spends 4 nights at cheapo Rez Inn.
