  • Stay at any of our participating hotels and resorts worldwide between September 26, 2018 and January 31, 2019.
  • Earn 2,000 bonus points on all stays* of two or more nights and 1,000 bonus points per brand, starting with your second brand.
  • Play our game 29 Ways to Stay from October 11 through November 8 to learn more about our 29 brands and for the chance to win prizes, including points and free nights.**
  • Register by January 7, 2019
Nights spent while redeeming an award are not eligible for bonus points.

Finer print:
*A 'stay' is defined as consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, regardless of check-in/check-out activity.

Registration is required. Marriott Rewards, Starwood Preferred Guest, and The Ritz-Carlton Rewards (“Loyalty Program”) members who register for this promotion by January 7, 2019 will earn 2,000 bonus points per stay on stays of 2 or more nights at participating brands. Plus, members can earn an additional 1,000 bonus points per brand starting with the second brand at which the member stays during the promotion earning period. The promotion earning period is for stays between September 26, 2018 and January 31, 2019, at participating Marriott Rewards, SPG and Ritz-Carlton properties. A 'stay' is defined as consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, regardless of check-in/check-out activity. Rooms booked through most third party online retailers and select travel agency bookings are ineligible to earn for this promotion. The member receiving this offer has been targeted and the offer is not transferable. Bonus points will be awarded to the member’s account up to six weeks after the promotion ends. Marriott Vacation Club® owner-occupied weeks are not eligible for bonus points and nights spent while redeeming an award are not eligible for bonus points. Only one room per hotel is counted toward a member’s nights or stay. Members electing to earn miles are not eligible for this promotion. For a list of current participating brands, visit https://www.marriott.com/loyalty/earn/hotels.mi. All Loyalty Program terms and conditions apply. See https://www.marriott.com/loyalty/terms/default.mi for more information. Visit www.Marriott.com/MorePlaces or call 888-MARRIOTT (888-627-7468) for complete details.

Clarification from Starwood Lurker in post 125:
  1. In regards to the part of the offer where you can earn 1,000 points for trying a new brand…There is no minimum length of stay, but you only earn it starting with the second brand. So if you only stay at one brand during the promo period, you will not earn this bonus. But if you stay at 2 or more brands, you will earn 1,000 points for each of those brands after the first one even if the stay is only one night.
  2. You earn on every stay of 2+ nights, so it isn’t about accumulating nights. If you have two stays of 1 night each, you will not earn a bonus. If you have two accounts, you may register for MegaBonus with either or both accounts. You will only be able to earn with one account at a time because you will earn the bonus points in whichever account the stay was booked with. Example: If you have two accounts that are not combined: If you register for MegaBonus with your SPG number and stay with your SPG number, you will earn the bonus points in your SPG account. If you register for MegaBonus with your SPG number but book your stay with your MR number, you will not earn bonus points.

That's only because SPG earn sucked.

Really the only program upgrade for SPG elites is you now benefit from the better Marriott earn. Those of us who are already used to 15 points/dollar likely feel a little differently about this promo.

Actually if you think about it the cost (e.g. housekeeping) to the hotel is higher per room for a 1 night stay as compared to a 2 night stay.

i agree, I thought all new posts for all three were being in the new forum. I just hopped into this to check older threads and noticed new posts are here too.

I am not happy to see the same crappy promotion posted here too though. It’s like rubbing salt in the wounds.

Should it be Current Promo: (120x2x10x1.75) + 1000 + 2000 = 6200 Points given that the 1000 is only earned at the next stay via the following brand? (e.g. Aloft KL for 2 days and move to W KL for another 2 days)

Earn 2,000 bonus points on all stays* of two or more nights and 1,000 bonus points per brand, starting with your second brand.

Take a typical two-night weekend leisure stay in Asia at a base price of $120 a night (in, say, Bangkok or KL).

Current Promo: (120x2x10x1.75) + 1000 + 2000 = 7200 Points
SPG Double Points: (120x2x6) + 500 = 1940 x 3 = 5820 Points
SPG 1000 Bonus Points (120x2x4) + 500 + 1000 = 2460 x 3 = 7380 Points

SPG frequently also had two-night minimum stays to qualify for promos so I'm ok with this condition.

I can't register. Profile is up to date and in the country list. First time I got a general error message. The second time I got this:

A Note About This Promotion

We’re sorry, but there was an error in directing you to this promotion.

The reason for this error could be:
  • You’re trying to access a miles promotion and are a points-earner, or vice versa
  • You are not eligible for this promotion
  • This promotion has expired

No. I was ignoring the brand bonus which is of limited value that's hardly worth chasing and may get me 4000 points over the duration. The 1000 is the welcome bonus. Base Points x nights x PP multiple + Welcome Bonus + Promo Bonus.

Meanwhile, Hilton is straight up offering 3x/2x points for the rest of the year without any first stay or min nights requirements. No brainer on which one I would maximize.

Yes. Here's the first one I found from a quick search of the SPG forum:

2017 Q2/3 Global Promo : SPG Take Three, double or triple Starpoints, May 27 - Sep 4TRIPLE UP ON BONUS STARPOINTS
Register for SPG® Take Three by August 30, 2017 and your stays of two or more nights will earn double or triple Starpoints® between May 27 through September 4, 2017.

You may object to my use of the word "frequently". Maybe I should have used "sometimes" or less controversially left it at "also". But then again... here's another:

Promo: SPG More For You, double/triple Starpoints on 2+ night stays Sep 12-Dec 18 '16Announcing SPG More for You. Members who register and stay two or more nights between September 12 and December 18th, 2016 will earn:

• Double Starpoints on weekday stays
• Triple Starpoints on stays that include a Friday or Saturday (Thursday or Friday in the Middle East)

There's no doubt that single night stays cost the hotelier more than those staying multi-nights, BUT I have a feeling I'm bringing in more money to Marriott (corporate). I've never seen a Marriott contract, but I'm assuming it's a base fee + percentage of room revenue.

When I've spent 20 of the past 30 nights at Marriott properties, I'd hope for a little loyalty back from Marriott, even it only is one night at times.

I think both Marriott and hoteliers are missing the point here. Business travelers don't often have a choice of how many nights they stay at one place. BUT, they sometimes DO have a choice of which hotel they stay at. Additionally, many times business travelers are making reservations last-minute, filling rooms which would otherwise have gone unsold, paying high last-minute rates for the luxury. They're more than making money off these one-night reservations.

The same. I also get an error message when trying to register, both when logged in and when not logged in. Still waiting for multiple stays to post and for 45,000 points to be returned to my account from a canceled award stay. Sigh. This isn't a promotion that inspires much enthusiasm, perhaps they will have something better when the new program emerges early next year.

Those having trouble registering, this has been a constant issue with Marriott promos the past two years. It's a website problem. You have to call. Which of course is its own issue these days.

Is it right to assume, that stay paid by points or cash and points are neither eligible for the stay promotion nor for the brand promotion (and also do not count as first stay in both cases)?

In the past, these have been excluded expressis verbis in the t&c, but I did not see them this time excluded (or might oversaw it)

From time immorial FTers have complained that their stay was before or after a promo (re: if MAR, HIL, IHG, HYT, fill in the blank).

No.It has to do w/ those countries & how they handle sweepstakes.

US companies offer sweepstakes all the time as marketing tools (and have for years) - to the point we actually have a contest & sweeps forum on FT, of which I'm the major contributor to the sweeps forum - although I've been bad about contributing lately because I've been updating MAR forum re: exec lounges.

https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/free...eepstakes-223/

Sweepstakes is a new thing for most (non-USA) countries, so lots of various country laws & most int'l countries wouldn't know how to handle a sweepstakes & rules if it hit them in the face, much less have all the legal stuff in place that the US does. The US is actually quite strict re: privacy, etc, re: sweeps.

True dat. But I do understand the frustration if there were prior better promos (on both sides).

I think the CA stands for Canada, plus we are exempt from taxation on contest winnings.
Yes CA stands for Canada, so if you win you really luck out. Lots of stays for free & no taxes - unlike the US, where we have to bit the bullet on the Grand Prize of $30K income (it's considered income) & have to pay taxes. Someone else can figure out all the other country codes, although most are obvious.

I've never understood the I'm going to Hyatt unless the FTer always stayed in major cities where Hyatt was located - and even then the small footprint didn't cover that many major cities. I like Hyatt but it has a very small footprint.

No. Marriott has always been if you're at a hotel for two separate stays but they're consecutive days (ie, check out & check back in), it's considered one stay. IT issues aside, MAR (and other hotel chains) aren't stoo-pid. They (mostly) know how people try to game the program.

Cheers.
