I do believe this is an even bigger steal than my BRG last year of $267 for 3 nights at the Prince Gallery Tokyo.
Well done!

I would definitely stay at the StR for that price with their destination fee!

The $50 destination fee actually comes out to profit us--since it gives us a daily $50 F&B credit that we always use, and it also gives us 1000 points per day on top of that. We also get the $50 daily dry cleaning/laundry that we rarely use but could use, so that's even more profit for us should we need to use it. That doesn't even count the 2 free Met or MoMa tickets per day. (We aren't likely to use the hair salon credit LOL.)

That IS actually a very good point and I most likely would use most of these (including the Met / MoMa tickets). :-:

A data point that might interest some of you who BRG in ultra-cheap SE Asia, etc. destinations.

I recently received 5,000 BRG points, even though the underlying stay has not yet been credited to my account due to typical Bonvoy practice...

I’m new to the LNF programme, how comparable do the rates need to be? Obviously room type need to be the same, but do they micro manage if the rate is refundable, etc?

Usually there is a non-refundable rate on Marriott anyway. You can book non-refundable but I just usually book regular rate and put a note in that the rate I’m claiming against is cheaper than the non-refundable rate on Marriott, so I don’t have to remember to cancel within 24 hours.

+1

I did the same. The Marriott rate for the StR was refundable, but the 3rd party rate was non-refundable. I didn’t even have to explain (though perhaps it’s a good idea in most cases) and it still was approved.

Now BRG claims they check only from USA (USA IP pool) or still they have office in Cork Ireland ?
booking.com check strongly IP range and changing country or currency don't change serching results.

Even the regular rate is amazing for this hotel. Well done! (This is my favorite city hotel in the USA.)

I have no idea how you can get BRGs approved with this method. It was the case with SPG, but with Marriott, cancellation policies have to match.

I did exactly the same for my StR NY BRG and was approved in 12 hrs. No issue.
