I do believe they excluded status from linked accounts, so the SPG Platinum stays as MR Platinum until the merge and after combining of accounts. So many conditions, it's tough to keep up with all of them. Even their CSRs are getting it wrong way too often (i.e. challenge status).

If you read the various threads, this was corrected for some but not others.

Mine has never been corrected, and I've not been able to receive a response from SPG or Marriott that says anything more substantive than "be patient."

At this point, it is fairly clear to me (1) that this is not going to be fixed, and (2) Marriott really doesn't care if it pisses off a whole bunch of top tier elites. It apparently believes (in many cases correctly) that we have nowhere else to go.

I am still showing Platinum instead of Platinum Premier. I am still not combining my accounts until I complete some long booked stays later this month and next - one at Marriott and two at Starwood - they should, by all published info, bump me up to the land of Lifetime Platinum Premier and I figured I would just combine and fight the battle then. Aside from the currently booked resos, all for the rest of the year are being done at Hyatt until next year. Hopefully, IT will have all of this sorted by then?

Quick Update

Quick update: Even though I should be PPE since I was MR Platinum pre-merger, I am still showing as Platinum even though they opened a ticket for me a week ago. I did get a second response via twitter a couple days ago, letting me know it is a known issue they are working on. At my hotel stay this past weekend I was recognized as Platinum, so hotels sure can't see I am PPE. My points that posted from said stay were definitely with a Platinum bonus, not PPE bonus. I have another stay shortly-- my guess is that's another one I'll have to get them to fix after they FINALLY figure this mess out.

My trouble ticket has been open since August 20 with no response. We are obviously back into the situation where Marriott just doesn't respond for weeks or months. I sent an email back at the beginning of June that wasn't answered until late July - 6 or 7 weeks later.

I had a stay planned at a Marriott for a trade show I am going to soon. I switched that to Hilton in part because my status is wrong with Marriott, and I am frustrated with that. The better Hilton promo also played a factor.

It was written in reply to my email about the issue. I have no hope it will ever be corrected and I’ll pass 75 stays next month so I guess I’ll just wait for then to be a PP.

Exactly my situation. So I'll clear PP on nights within 30 days or so, but the ill-will will linger for a very long time.

As I suggested, keep your notes and request retro credit when things settle down. There are going to be so many "one-time exceptions" we may forget what normal is supposed to be.

That takes the wind outta my sails...

Its not looking good

Dear xxxx,

Thank you for your reply.

Platinum Premier status has to be earned. Just because you were Platinum at the time of the merger does not mean you are automatically upgraded to Platinum Premier. You have to earn it.

Thank you for choosing Marriott.

Sincerely,

Hi,

Other colleagues that successfully completed the challenge are platinum premier elite and have 24 nights...I have 64 and am Platinum. How is this possible?

Dear xxxxxx

Thank you for contacting Marriott Rewards. You are currently a Platinum Elite member. Thank you for your valued loyalty and continued patronage.

So far you have 64 nights in 2018. You need 11 more nights to achieve Platinum Premier status.

Starting in August 2018, loyalty members will earn Silver Elite status after reaching 10 Elite nights, Gold Elite status after reaching 25 Elite nights, Platinum Elite status after reaching 50 Elite nights, and Platinum Premier after reaching 75 Elite nights.

To achieve any Elite level, members must stay the required number of nights in a calendar year, January 1 to December 31.

You can find more information about the benefits of the new Elite levels by visiting members.marriott.com <http://members.marriott.com>.

If you have any questions or if I can be of further assistance, please reply to this message. I'm here to help.

We're excited for the future of Marriott and Starwood and we hope that you will be too.

Best Regards,

xxxxx

Unfreakingbelievable. I think I'd be gone for good if I got such a rude response.

I guess this means there will be no challenges for PP. Looking at the new plt challenge thread, it says there are plt and gold challenges now. While the rep was pretty blunt, he/she answered the question clearly.

I really hope we can hold Starriott to this standard, especially as customers continue to flee due to the merger mess.

The rep answered the question incorrectly. The answer is contrary to what Marriott told people in emails prior to the integration, it's contrary to what William published, and it's contrary to the experience of most status challenge Plats who were in fact elevated to PP.

Either these people just can't get their stories straight, or Marriott has decided as a matter of policy it's simpler just to say "no" than to fix the status for those of us who incorrectly remain at Plat. Pretty pathetic either way.

You can sometimes just about get away with being that blunt, not that I'd recommend it for someone hoping for a career in customer service. However, you really can't get away with it if you're being both wrong and rude.

So still no Platinum Premier for me and some of these posts about MR saying ‘You have to earn it’ are not giving me hope they even know what the problem is.

I saw somewhere to wait until after sept 18th to see what happens, and that is now coming up soon. I have no confidence in MR in fixing anything soon, and definitely no confidence in them extending Plat Premier until Jan 2020 like the challenge specified.

I did just notice the 5 elite night benefit for reaching 50 nights. With a work trip I just picked up, I should be at 68 nights to end the year. Add those 5 and I’m 2 away if work plans stay the same. So I might just decide to do a cat 1 reward point mattress run to avoid the ambiguity (and of course get the 40k one night reward). Still would feel a little take due to doing 4 extra stays in the spring for the plat challenge (aka a challenge for no benefits under the current implementation) but that 40k night at 75 is a decent bonus worth burning fewer than 40k points to earn.

Anyway, I appreciate the updates from other posters, and will post if I learn something of note on my end.
