FYI - I checked in with the hotel and they are able to arrange a PCR test to be taken at the hotel. 75 EUR per person

That seems a bit pricey when it’s only 50€ at the Athens airport and only 20€ for the Rapid PCR test that will satisfy entry to most countries including the U.S.

Do you mean an antigen test when you say "rapid PCR"? 20EUR for a PCR test, irrespective of turnaround time is really cheap. From Googling, seems like 60 EUR is the going rate for PCR in Corfu (https://barbera-yachting.de/en/covid...tations-greece). Feels like 15 EUR premium is worth it if someone comes to the hotel and takes the test

it is reasonable if they are arranging it and you do not have to search for anything, plus compared to what we have been charged in the UK this entire time, a 75$ test is a great 50% discount! lol

You can't beat that price for convenience but if you have time in Athens there are other much more affordable options in my opinion.

We had a wonderful, blissful stay there last week. At the start the hotel wasn't very busy, but it gradually filled up with every day that went by. On day 1 of our stay the morning yoga class had 2 participants, 3 days later there were 6.

An extension to the hotel is currently being constructed on the other side of the road. It is expected to be finished next year and will allow for a lot more guests. I could be a bit worried that some of the bliss might disappear.

Does this place take SNA's? I know it's a crapshoot whether it even clears, just wondering if it's possible, or do you have to pay $$$ to upgrade?

Thanks

I am here now , too bad we are leaving Friday otherwise could say Hi . I have been upgraded to a one bedroom Suite but I think I got really lucky .

We just checked in today and so far we are not overly impressed. We had SNAd into one of the Emerald Suites, and were further upgraded to one of the Pavillion suites, which is nice and comes with Haute access (their lounge concept with free drinks and snacks all day, plus "vip" and concierge service). The pavilion suite however is 1/2 the size of the emerald suite. Upon entering the room, we saw several spider webs, ants roaming around in the shower area etc, which obviously is not acceptable at a luxury collection. We told them about this and asked for a new room, and while sorry and them doing a thorough cleaning, there are still some things unsolved and I'm too tired to push. We have been promised a new room tomorrow, and they said they would comp a couples massage for us which was nice (and unprompted). We also had dinner at the restaurants all-day fine dining restaurant/main restaurant, Makris, and it too was a bit of a disappointment. Food was meh, and the staff had praised their chef endlessly and said that he can usually make most things happen and that he can come and meet us to talk to my partner about her gluten free allergy; and the entire conversation was just really awkward and instead of him proactively making suggestions he mostly just stood there looking without much proactivity. Overall, not a great first impression.

Have to add though - staff are well intentioned, but it just is not going all the way when it comes to delivering on a LC resort imho.

By snacks are you referring to the fruit and peanuts they leave out all day, or did they put anything else out during different hours like 12 to 3 , 5-9 etc. I popped in there twice and did not see anything more than fruit and nuts plus drinks

Nah that’s it. They have some fruits, nuts and then occasionally some small bites like simple sandwiches. We haven’t really eaten anything but all day free drinks is a nice touch. Happy to say hi if you are still here?

WDYT about the breakfast? Buffet is ok I would say but I would expect more from a LC. Small ala carte menu exists but at a surcharge from what I understand which I’ve never really encountered at resorts in Europe / Asia when you have BF included.

We are snacking at the verde bar . Would love to meet .

I am Wearing a Yankees cap half cap and orange flowers bathing and loafers.

wife is wearing a Bacardi hat.
name as on my handle

RE Breakfast you must have seen the omelette station and we sleep thru breakfast every other day , Also the empty refrigerator, and espresso machine come in handy

Interesting. I had SNA’s and asked if they’d be taken. This was in March. I was emailed by the reservation department that no SNA’s were taken! I still have the email. I wanted to upgrade myself as only suites have tubs and I need one for the degenerative disc disease and RSD in my legs. Maybe Lifetime Platinum Members aren’t that important to them, but I’m shocked that I was lied to. In addition, I emailed her (reservations for Domes Miramare) back to accept her very expensive offer, and she never replied. Suffice to say I’m a bit angry and hurt. There was no need for lies. Thanks for including that info!

To maybe some small deference, at a small property like this I can quite believe that many staff members have never heard of an SNA, or unsure as to how the programme works. I’ve not stayed at this particular Domes property however my experience of visits to others has been poor communication beforehand, however much better service on the ground whilst there.

We just wrapped up a one-week stay at Domes Miramare Corfu and I must say that I was quite disappointed with the experience. This may have been the result of me having slightly too high of an expectation on the property, so some fault definitely lies with me. Going in, I thought that this property looked like a steal as a Cat 5 with cash rates often exceeding 500 EUR/night during the Summer season, but I think that it is appropriately categorised after our experience here.

First off, the property is gorgeous. The hardware is great in the rooms, with great water pressure, comfortable beds and marble all-around. The environment around the resort is also breathtaking. But the service is pretty lacklustre and F&B is disappointing. For our stay, we managed to get SNAs confirmed into the entry-level suite, and upon arrival we were informed that we had been upgraded to the "pavilion suites" which would grant us access to the Haute Living lounge which has been previously covered here, but in essence offered all-day drinks (including alcoholic beverages) and some light snacks throughout the day. The lounge also had its own private pool and was more secluded than the other pool area.

Anyway, upon checkin we were escorted to our room which the hostess bragged had been "meticulously cleaned" due to Covid -- so we were surprised when we entered and were able to spot several spider webs in the room, and an ant infestation in the bathroom. Disappointing. They apologise profusely and offer to clean the room again, which they do, and it takes roughly three hours. Our hostess says they would like to offer a 30 min spa treatment to make up for the experience; and that they would move us tomorrow -- it would turn out that this proactive gesture from their end would be like pulling teeth to get it to materialise. Fine. We are moved the day after -- and to my surprise, we are moved to a pretty significantly smaller room (smaller bathroom, smaller bed) but at this point I just let it go because I did not have the energy to deal with it.

Throughout our stay, service was pretty disappointing, although clearly well intentioned. Basic requests could take several hours and multiple reminders to materialise which I thought was a little stressful and not exactly my idea of a relaxing vacation. Service at breakfast is a little chaotic with simple coffee orders often taking 20+ minutes to arrive; and often the wrong drink would arrive. I think that the hotel really tries, and the staff are kind and try their best, but they are simply not trained to a luxury standard. For instance, we had booked a PCR test through the hotel for our onward trip, and 30 min before we are set to take the test, they inform me their clinic has cancelled and no one will be able to come before late in the evening, making the test arrive too late, and this is something they knew. They did not come with a proactive solution, but I had to myself quickly seek out an alternative that would give me the response in time. Speaking to other guests -- many ascribed the service similarly, well-intentioned but simply not up to par.

The F&B at the hotel is also a little disappointing in my opinion. The breakfast selection is a buffet, a decent one, but by no means extravagant. They have an eggs station where you can get one of the worst omelettes I've had in my life. The buffet selections biggest flaw is that it does not change AT ALL -- we were there for 7 nights and literally nothing rotated. It gets a little boring and old quickly. There is an a la carte menu available but it is at an extra charge. The hotel website describes itself like this: "We also serve some of the most delicious vegetarian and gluten-freefood Corfu has to offer." This turned out to be the biggest joke ever. I had reached out in advance to the hotel and let them know my girlfriend has celiac's disease to see what options they would have at breakfast, and they said the chef would come and speak to us upon our arrival. He did indeed come and speak to us, but mostly awkwardly stood there staring blankly at us. On most days, they would not even have gluten free toast available which I would say is as basic as it gets to catering to a gluten free diet. One day, we ordered room service and my girlfriend ordered a gluten free burger, and they served it on a brown breakfast roll with seeds on it. I think the biggest flaw in this hotel is expectation management. I would never expect gluten free to be a possibility, but the hotel themselves said they were great at it and would make the proper arrangements for her. We had notified the hotel that she is GF two weeks before arriving, and upon checkin they let us know they had noted this and that the snacks in Haute Living would be made gluten free. They first offered gluten free snacks/canapes on the 4/7 night of our stay. It all just felt super lazy. We had dinner at Makris two nights and found the food to be ok, but perhaps a little too fancy for their own good, and we think they should have offered some Greek classics on the menu. Overall the F&B at the hotel is quite boring and limited, but luckily Corfu has some great family-owned tavernas to enjoy, several of them close to the hotel. The concept of Haute Living is awesome -- free alcoholic drinks all-day (soft drinks, beer, coffee, spirits, simpler cocktails like Aperol Spritz or G&T) and a more secluded, private section of the hotel is a great concept, especially in Covid times. The service was pretty slow (could take 30-40 min to get a drink), and the "snacks" that were there usually comprised of some fried foods that were sitting out in room temperature for hours on end. I found it a little strange from a food safety POV that the snacks which often contained perishable foods were not refrigerated.

To summarise -- I think it still provides decent value if booked with points, but I would be disappointed to part ways with 4000 EUR for a week stay here. The property is gorgeous. Service is well-intentioned and friendly, but not refined nor attentive. They overpromise and underdeliver. F&B is disappointing. I think if I had lower expectations that I would have been happier with the stay. We did like Corfu and noticed that Banyan Tree has opened their first property in Europe there -- the Angsana Corfu -- which looks great, so we hope to try it on our next visit to Corfu.

PS: The latest review of the hotel on Google by Patrice Becker feels eerily similar to our experience here
