Mobile key suspended?
I was told by a Marriott property that the Mobile Key feature has been suspended until further notice due to security issues and that this applies to all properties. It this true? I haven’t received a mobile key for my last two stays.

Was there a change with mobile key for the most recent android app update? I could have sworn I successfully used mobile key at a property on Sept 21. Now I've just had 2 consecutive single night stays at different properties and did mobile check-in on the app for both. For each property, I received push notifications when my room was ready and available, then followed by the push notification that told me my room #. However, the mobile key icon never appeared on my app for either property.

Even with the mobile key IME it hasn't worked much...... No at all! Some hotels have told me they need my charge card because I've never stayed there before. Every time I have bypassed the FD and gone to the room I had to come back to the FD and get a key card.

Hilton is like a 75% hit rate for me - the Digital Key working the first time when I go directly to my room without stopping at the front desk - and they've had it up and running for about five years now, pretty widespread.
I cannot understand why Marriott can't figure this out. I mean, I would understand if they just said "we're never going to invest in this - it isn't worth it to us". But the fact that they seem to have half-tried it, still talk about it, and it never works is bizarre.

I've never had it work at any Marriott in any country or brand, pre-, during, or post-covid. I use an Android. The app always asks me if I want a Mobile Key, I select yes, and I never get it. I always have to go to the front desk.

I used it a few times this summer (for the first times), and generally didn't like it. I'd rather stick a card in my pocket than my whole phone when I go out for a walk, snack, short jaunt to the lounge, whatever. Now if they could put the card on my smart watch then they'd be onto something.

Ironically I've been able to use this thrice this week (Think it was re-enabled in the app) at a few hotels in New York.

Why claim it’s available if it never works?

Usually works for me. The process is that you first request a mobile key in the app, then go to the front desk so they can verify your identity and that you requested a mobile key before issuing it. Haven’t had any problems recently.
