I'm still awaiting an answer about the arriving passengers. Many people are on vacation. Once I have answers I'll post a full report.

Your point is well taken, but I found the gym more than adequate.
  • four treadmills
  • three elliptical machines
  • full dumbbell rack
  • free weight bar and bench
  • two or three universal/ multi pulley-based machines
  • one rowing machine
  • two cardio bikes
  • one spinning cycle, with SPD compatible pedals.
  • pilates/ yoga/ stretch room

Good run down. It does have a good selection of equipment. But it tends to get crowded in the afternoon - the space is small and the equipment is sited very close together. Agree that the staff is great. Just wish they would move the equip to a larger space.

Is it just me or does the water in the pool seem unusually cold? I'm thinking location of the pool prevents it from getting a decent amount of sun exposure?

Anyway - I was a wuss and didn't do my laps the last stay.

Ok, I owe this report for a long time.

So I tried out the Fast Track Immigration Clearance for arriving guests.

When I landed there was a Westin representative waiting for me at the gate. He took my bag and escorted me on foot to the middle immigration area. He filled in the form and we zipped through. He waited and helped with my bags. This was the first time in a long time that customs wanted to scan my bags. I wonder if perhaps they figure that a foreigner with an escort is likely to have goods that are over the limits. After waiting with me to get a top-up for my SIM, the rep escorted me to the public taxi and helped load my bag in the taxi.

I feel that this kind of service is overkill for me as I'm a frequent visitor. But the service is excellent for those that require and desire this kind of service. They have about 4 staff members rotating to cover any flights that are arriving and departing. The gentleman who escorted me was working with the Westin for several years in another capacity related to the limo service before this new assignment.

100th Stay at the Westin Grande Sukhumvit

A few weeks ago I had my 100th stay at the Westin Grande Sukhumvit. When the staff wish me a safe journey home I remind them that the WGS is my home. Some of the gifts I've received in the past to celebrate stay milestones have included free spa treatments, Westin-branded toiletry kits, a Westin polo shirt and a large scented candle.

To celebrate my 100th stay I received:
  • A bottle of Chianti from the F&B Manager
  • 2 free nights at the Sheraton Hua Hin to be used in the next 13 months
  • 10,000 Starpoints

Upon my 101st stay I received a robe with my name embroidered across the chest. Upon each check-in the robe will be placed in the room. I'm not sure whether this is directly related to the 100th stay. Apparently there are other frequent guests who have received the same personalized robe.

Though I occasionally stay at other properties in BKK it is at the WGS that I keep a suitcase. There are plus and minuses to all properties and we all have our favorites. But loyalty is reciprocal and when I've needed flexibility, opening of C+P, special requests and quick reservations organized through social media and email, the staff of the WGS has been there for me and I'm appreciative.

Was one of the better hotels I have stayed at. Only problem was trying to get the PrintFromRoom to work over the flakey connection.

And the restaurant cum bar was a bit too loud for a late dinner...

It would have been better had you posted this before the 1st of June !

Am at the hotel now but only for a night and moving to my REAL home in BKK, the Grand Hyatt Erawan!

=
ON another matter, I was told that I can only log into one device while on the complimentary internet service. What ??

Who uses only one device nowadays? I had no problems with multiple devices, ie laptop, iPhone, iPad when staying at LM, 4P, SGS... but this hotel wants to charge me extra? It was only after I .....ed about it, that the Club floor provided me with a second log in and password "this time only".

A) I hear you. you could travel with a travel router. I do.
B) At the WGS you can log out of the commentary Internet by going to 1.1.1.1 in your browser then log in with a different device.

On the SPG-Website they mention that wireless internet access is available for free in all public areas: Internet Access

Can someone confirm this? The last time I stayed at Westin Grande Sukhumvit I just internet in my room and paid for it. Though I'll have an executive room free internet in lounge would be enough for me.

This is true, but you need a code. Unless your internet is included in the room, this will also be the case in the Executive Lounge. But there are often people sitting in the lobby, or on the couches on the 8th floor using the internet. The code comes from the Business Center but it may be possible to get it also from the front desk. I'll try to ask when I check out.
