I haven't had as much luck as you. When I was at the Westin a while back I did not get a suite upgrade, even trying to use my upgrades.

I also had a really difficult time trying to buy up to the full breakfast from the club. First was told yes I could, then no, then quoted strange prices, finally I got the right price and bought up - wasn't even worth it.

The lounge is good though and the breakfast there is suprisingly good. Also, 2 hours of free drinks every night can't be beat.

Any more recent platinum experiences at these properties? My fiance and I are planning a trip this fall to Cabo and are deciding between the two.

We stayed (Nov '12) at the Westin on my cheapest corporate rate. Got RBC access (free brekky in the a.m., drinks & heavy hors doeuvres in the PM) and a pretty nice upgrade to a room w/ a hot tub on the balcony.

It was a "Royal Beach Club Ocean Suite".

I also wouldn't mind some updated advice. Consdering Cabo for our mini-honeymoon in March, and there are still cash+points rooms available. I don't have SPG status, just a cardholder. Sounds like Westin may be nicer/pricer - but Sheraton is closer to town/better restaurants? Is that accurate?

Been to Cabo 5 times and last 3 times only stayed at the Sheraton and Hilton. Westin has a great GM but I don't care for the spread out nature of the hotel ,location is farther from San Lucas and the beach isn't swimmable.

Closing thread. Any further discussion around comparing these or any other Cabo based Marriott hotels can continue in the Marriott Bonvoy Hotels in Cabo San Lucas, MX thread.
