Some people live for places like MLE; for others, it makes their skin crawl. You're clearly the latter, while--having been 3 times, including at SR MLE--we are firmly in the former. Between the fishing, scuba diving, meals, beauty... and wifi, we found stays of 6-7 days even a bit short.
Maldives being Muslim country has about as much to do with your ability to enjoy yourself as Salt Lake City being a "Mormon city" has to do with the quality of the skiing. Read: not much. Booze is freely available at the resorts.
Oh, you're right, you can't bring your own in, nor can you bring your vintage Playboy set, or your pork rinds. Other than that, open season.

These type of Maldives trips seem like they would be really boring...probably taking satisfaction from the fact that one is at one of the higher-priced resorts out there.
What is there to do aside from the resort when you are staying an an atoll in a muslim country? I ask this, not as some defamatory troll question, but instead as someone who likes to explore the local scene and have a drink now and then. Are the Maldives for me???

PS: Or would I be better off going to someplace like Mauritius?

Btw, you won't actually be able to book on the app (unless they've fixed it, but not likely).

Have you bothered to read any of this thread? I'm not saying you'll get your answer but it will prevent the thread from filling up with the exact same question over and over.

Ok, thanks for that. Very helpful.
Nevertheless, to answer your question, yes I have bothered to read some of this thread. I've been fairly regularly following (and contributing) to this thread since the August 18 merger in an attempt to book one of these rooms.

So let me get this straight. You don't know if this question has been asked before and you don't know if it's been answered. But you just decided to proactively admonish me just in case it's been asked and answered before so that the thread doesn't fill up with the exact same question over and over (which, by the way, you don't seem to know if it has been asked over and over)?
Ok, thanks for that. Very helpful.

I do know that it has been continuously discussed on the thread regarding the number of points for rooms of various types, if you are actively reading the thread you'll see that no one knows anything at the moment, the hotel and Marriott both are working through exactly what the rate will be, if there will indeed be one at all. Whatever anyone has gotten at this point is not repeatable in any consistent manner.

Yes, I noticed other posts and I also noticed questions with answers that were simply a few posts above the one you asked, like the St. Regis phone number. It was on the same page as your question.

Could you please direct me to some of the previous posts mentioning being quoted 197.5k per night for the OWV's then? While some people lucked into 85k initially, we all know this was a mistake that's being honored and it's my understanding that the current consensus is that 170k is the price going forward. I've yet to see anyone discussing a higher price than that but maybe I missed it. If it's only a few posts up hopefully you can point it out to me easily so I can read the responses.
