Has anyone got an email address for Taipei Marriott?

Also what activities / things to do are good given the Marriott's location apart from the Palace Museum?

There are several Michelin-starred restaurants within walking distance: Shin Yeh (directly in the same building), Raw, Tairroir, and Mipon. Ryugin as well although I believe it has closed.

The Martyr's Shrine and the Yuanshan (Grand) Hotel are nearby, and the Shilin Residence a little beyond. These are a little more specialized for those with an interest in Taiwan/China history. Also a new Chiang Ching-Kuo cultural park.

For the average tourist, the Shilin Night Market is not too far. The park/market at Yuanshan MRT station is worth a browse too. Aquatic Addiction (stand up sushi market) is not too far and popular with tourists who like that sort of thing. Within walking distance, NOKE is a newly opened shopping mall with an upscale Japanese flair.

The Neihu hiking trails are not bad in the rare chance that the weather is good and the air is clear, and if you don't have any decent hiking at home.

I think I visited Shilin residence a few years ago when I stayed at Renaissance. Nice place and gardens to walk around.

I generally liked the Taipei Marriott, though, I can see the misgivings about the location. Still though, it matches my expectations for a Marriott in Asia. Here are my pros, cons, and photos:

Note: I missed evening service.

Pros:
  • Upgraded several days in advance to a Corner Junior Suite - which was a full suite in my opinion
  • Beautiful view facing TSA, Xinyi, and Taipei 101 - fun watching the planes take off
  • Nice bed - two twins combined, but the mattress felt slightly softer than most firm with padding Asian beds, covers were decently plush (could be a bit thicker), and pillows were fantastic and plush
  • Shower pressure was decent (though weaker than other Taiwan properties)
  • Nice strawberry cupcake left on the welcome gift plate - yummy
  • Offered 4 PM late checkout
  • Tasty chocolate muffin out in the lounge in the afternoon
  • While Platinum and Titaniums must have breakfast in the lounge, a sign at check-in offers restaurant breakfast for free to Ambassadors only
    • Tasty omelets and hashbrowns
    • Enjoyed the pancakes, waffles, and French toast - decent for Asia

Cons:
  • Grout cleaning in the shower could be improved

ElevatorEnthusiast, it really sucks that Titanium Elites can't have breakfast at the restaurant.

I can't tell from the pictures, but can you confirm that there are type B sockets in your room?

I'm seeing the following rates: 33,000 points/NT$7448. I just made the award booking but might switch to cash if it's better. Opinion?

Have you been there before? Worth visiting? Any other new malls that opened since the pandemic?

Its a typical international outlet, which I think would work with Type B - though all of my plugs are Type A without the grounding pin, so YMMV. Thats $239 USD, so only .7 CPP. I would do cash.

Thank you! I know I can always count on you.

Don't you have a laptop? Some of them use proprietary cables and often have a ground line on the other end.

Yep, but mine just has a Type A charger with USB-C (so the electrical pins can flip up). I always carry a set of three international adapters that haven't failed me yet anyway.

Edit to add zoomed-in photo:

When you say typical, I've only seen these international universal outlets in Asia. I don't recall ever seeing these types of outlets in Europe, South America, or North America.
