Hotel Website: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Autograph Collection
Official List of Cosmopolitan Bonvoy Elite Benefits: https://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/marriott-bonvoy-at-the-cosmopolitan-of-las-vegas
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, the only charges that qualify for Points are as follows:
- Room rate, room service food and beverage, in-room movies, phone calls and in-room minibar purchases
- Points cannot be earned on any other purchases at hotel outlets or for hotel services
The Cosmopolitan is a "resort," so basically the only elite benny is a possible upgrade. Elites are not exempt from the resort fee
Resort fee is $39+tax effective 01/01/2019. Also as of that date, parking (self & valet) is complimentary for hotel guests.
Cosmopolitan is exempt from providing free wifi to Plats per Marriott's T&Cs, however it is included with the mandatory $39 daily resort fee so there is still no extra charge to any guest for using it.
Platinums receive:
* use of Platinum check-in area (to the left of main desks)
* Platinum arrival gift is $10FB coupon or 1,000 points
* room upgrade (space available) - better luck on mid-week stays than weekend stays. sometimes a 'sandwich' (ie, bribe) to front desk does the trick.
* free tea/coffee 6am - noon in the plat lobby check-in area
* Wicked Spoon: Marriott Rewards Platinums (and PPs) get to use preferred line and get 15% discount when staying at the property. Just show your MR Plat or PP card.
You can book through Virtuoso as well as Amex FHR for complimentary breakfast buffet at Wicked spoon.
Resort fee:
* $39 (+ tax) per day for resort fee, which includes gym access, local + long distance calls, Wifi, pool access. The resort fee is not waived.
Receiving Bonvoy Points for a Stay:
Many have reported needing to follow up to have Marriott Bonvoy points manually posted post stay (they do not typically post automatically.) A tip is to email [email protected] shortly after a stay asking them to manually forward your folio to Marriott Bonvoy for processing.
Hat tip to billycwhatup for this:
* Identity points and MR points can not be earned on the same stay
Other tips
The Terrace Suites are the most common room type and are classified as studio and one bedroom, with options for King, 2 Queens with or without a fountain view. They are essentially the same size, however (10 sq ft difference), but the layouts differ.
The King Studio Suite has a standard bathroom with shower and tub, a living room area with large sitting area and an L shaped sofa and the bed is in a separate area, though not separated.
The King One BR Suite has the same kind of living room area, with the bedroom separated by sliding doors and the bathroom is larger, with a "soaking tub".
If you get a terrace suite of any kind with 2 Queens, the living area will be smaller.
And unless your room type is described as "fountain view", you aren't guaranteed it, though Platinum status will get you upgraded on check in if they have one available.
If you book any of these room types and want to aim higher, I would try a giving the receptionist a 50$ "sandwich", and ask if any wraparounds upgrades would be available. If they say yes, there is a good chance that it will be a wraparound facing south-east or south-west, which for me would be a no go. Taste in view is personal of course, but for me the fountain-Eiffel tower view are so much nicer than the south facing views. Also when you would have the choice between a low level wraparound or high level terrace suite, I would still take the high level terrace suite, because a number of floors on the east tower are blocked by the big Bellagio sign. (see youtube vids).
If you really want a high level wraparound then you probably would have to pay, which can sometimes be not that much. If I'm not mistaken I think they offered me a wraparound at 150$ per night more, but we originally booked a 1 bedroom terrace room without view.
Last tip : If you would get the choice of wraparound I would definitely take a high floor east tower one, facing north-east. That would give you bellagio fountain + eiffel tower view, but also a good portion of the south strip.

the Marriott site didn’t make any mention of a deposit and my credit card is and has been properly tied to my account. I don’t see any charges on my credit card. But I maintain that there was nothing about. Deposit being required on Marriott’s site so why should the property be able to impose different rules and why should they be causing me a slight amount of stress?
update: I do see that the Marriott reservations states I need a credit card prepayment to hold the room. Maybe just typical terrible bonvoy technology. Still not a warm welcoming email.

Vegas has been like that for years. I remember a stay 7-8 yrs ago, where I booked a cancellable rate and the hotel insisted that I had to pre-pay my reservation and they would refund me if I needed to cancel. It's a big hassle if you're not from the US and have to pay forex fees.

For my reservation that I made a few months ago, it was clear they needed a one night deposit and I was charged that. However, it was refunded when I canceled it to get a lower price with BRG and had to make a new reservation.

Trip report
I ended up booking through fine hotels and resorts. Here is my trip report for a one night stay:
arrival: while the line wasn’t terrible at checkin, I used the little arrivals room to the left of the checkin desk where there was no line.
upgrade: no room category upgrade at all. I did get a fountain view which maybe is a nicer view.
perks: $25 credit to the bar closest to the check in area (I never used it). $75 food credit to be used before 11am, doesn’t include gratuity which is billed separately. $100 spa credit. But their spa treatments are so over priced that this is almost a wasted benefit. 4pm check out offered. Skip the line for twisted fork buffet - not sure if this was due to Marriott status (only gold) or FHR.
I was impressed with the property except (and this is a general Vegas gripe) there are such limited options for quality grab and go / take out meals. It shouldn’t have to take an hour to get a healthy casual bite to eat.
room was modern and comfortable and quiet. Gym was well equipped and almost on par with a (small) private gym. Way above average. I used the spa credit for a day pass, but at $85 it was not something I’d ever pay for and wouldn’t if I had been traveling with my spouse as the credit wouldn’t have covered it. Spa area was nice but they are single gender so even if you were willing to purchase the second pass it would not end up being a couples thing.
wicked fork: very expansive buffet. Wish they didn’t put pork in so many of the dishes which otherwise could have been vegetarian, but at least it was well marked. Since it was just me the credit was sufficient to even add a libation. I was impressed with the buffet. Not the most amazing food ever but pretty darned good.
pool was open and did not impress me.
casino area was hopping and had good vibe.
elevators - never had a major issue with a wait, one time the elevator stopped and was full. I don’t understand why Vegas can’t figure out a better elevator solution which solved that but was not an issue for me.
check out: no line at all and bill was completely correct.
I highly recommend this hotel especially with the American Express fine hotel benefits.

Except as you noted, the spa credit is a bit of a loss leader. Both Virtuoso and Marriott's Luminous program provide an F&B credit (not valid in Marquee Dayclub & Nightclub, Beauty & Essex, Zuma and Juice Standard)

One night stay about 2 weeks ago, booked last minute through the Marriott app the most economical basic room. Checkin was flawless , much improvement over last stay in Dec 2021. As titanium, was proactively given an upgrade to a room with terrace and jacuzzi tub, large sitting area , with two TVs. The stellar point for me: a late check-out of 3pm was given and very much appreciated. Service levels were very very good, right down to day of departure at the bell desk. My stay has not been reflected into my account as of today, and I suspect I will have to submit a request eventually.

Staying at the NoMad@ParkMGM for a week and ending the trip at the Cosmo for 1 night, I'm Bonvoy Plat and staying at a rate of 136$, I believe this is a good rate. I'm also managing my expectation here as a Plat...Hotel status in Vegas is nothing, or so I'm told. What should I expect and should I go for it? Any advice would be appreciated, I'm booked in a 2 queen beds guestroom. Thanks!

It is a good rate , assume you are staying mid-week? I have booked a room with 2 queen beds before, when I was Plat, and the upgrade I got was 2 queen beds with fountain view room, low floor. Albeit this was over a year ago now during Christmas holiday season 2021. You can check in/out in the little lounge off to the side of the main check-in area. If in doubt where it is, there’s usually a few staff walking around holding a tablet in the main area. There is also a Starbucks coffee machine in the lounge or tea. I did not request a late check out at the time, nor was one proactively offered. For a one night stay, I would take the 1000 points over the $10 F&B credit. Have fun !

$100 food and beverage or spa credit; so the credit becomes more valuable, IMHO, as an F&B credit. The big caveat is that ONLY AMEX FHR is contractual for the 4 PM check-out guarantee. The $75 F&B credit for breakfast (including in-room dining) still remains the same, but will probably eventually shift back to Wicked Spoon only (have not heard anything about that).
Lastly, good experiences lately with non-Luminous (even group rate) bookings for Titaniums at Cosmo. Upgrades from city view rooms have been to studios/suites with fountain views (in some cases). Upgrades on arrival in the Autograph check-in lounge. Note: Luminous has the same upgrade policy as FHR, which is basically one-tier. Happy to share the one-tier "by the book" upgrade list if anyone cares.

The digital key has never worked for me , and the chat with front desk option has never been made available in app with this property in my experience. Upgrade doesn’t show prior to check-in, and should you be upgraded after check-in, the new room type is not updated in the app.

Is there a possibility for late checkout at the Cosmo? 4pm would be wonderful.
I know it's stated at 2pm per the website.
Thanks.
