VISA Buxx

The CC I always used is gone but the one I hadn't yet used was still operative this am. I got in another 500. Hope I can repeat tomorrow.

TD Go closing is really no big deal, but it was nice because the fee was so low, which made using a card like Barclays Arrival very nice.

Hilarious. Look through this thread. There were several people who called in. If you are going to throw insults, at least make sure you are right before opening your mouth.

Well, as everyone has stated, it is now dead. Thanks to all the idiots who called in and kept posting about it here and elsewhere.

I know folks like to complain about others killing deals but, honestly, I doubt this forum was the cause of death. I mean, they're a bank -- maybe they just noticed the money flows? :)

It would be interesting to know what percentage of their total deposits we were. I assume the majority. I don't think these cards are terribly popular (for good reason -- they're kind of stupid), and I'm sure most real parents weren't maxing out the monthly $3K.

I agree, though I will say a friend of mine who went to a college near my alma mater told me about how a couple moms in one of the alumni mailing lists were asking about one of the Buxx cards (US Bank in particular) and how that was how they gave their teen money and would her teen be able to use it any ATM there fee-free in an emergency and getting info from other moms about that matter. It was truly bizarre to find an instance of the Buxx cards being used by non-MSers...

I introduced a friend of mine to bb when we were traveling overseas to get money at atms with no FT fees. She now uses it as a regular debit account! Its kind of weird to me....

Suspend or close TDBuxx

Can we avoid being charged the inactivity fee (I believe it is after 12mo) by suspending TD Buxx or we need to close it? How will TD bill the charge if no CC is linked? The CCs I had linked are all gone.

Id love to see that too. I'm going to empty out all the TD bank Go cards i have and see where they'll bill the inactivity fee from

You probably can load the card now till the end of month while load fee is 0. In branch.
Then buy a cup of coffee annually to keep it running. (If one have such desire).
So for me it's $41.9 at *$ for 10 years :)

On the other note. Some prepaid products charge into negative territory (while some other don't). So it'll be your headache how to repay, not their.

According to the TDGo Account Guide, there's no option to load in-branch. Only ways to load are (1) Debit / Credit Card (now issued by TD Bank only) and (2) Direct deposit

Since they provide Direct deposit routing and account info, I'm thinking you could do an ACH push from another bank account to load?

Inactivity fee kicks in after 12 months and then $2.50 per month. If nothing changes by then, not sure it's worth the trouble to keep it. If only the ATM limit was > $60 / week I would keep it just for the free Canada ATM w/ds.

Someone mentioned it will CA so if it is true then no.

VISA Buxx

If this is true then there is no point keeping the TD GO card.

Haha..."it'll be your headache". No it won't. It will be their headache because you obviously don't have any funding sources on the account, so they can't recoup their money.

Until the unpaid balance gets sold to a collection agency and torpedoes an app. I am going to put a calendar notice for about 6 or 7 months out to see if a window opens after they've closed the door, then, close.
