USBank Buxx - can I add young children (not teens)? Do they check the birthdays?

They do not check birthdates in my experience.

Interesting experience regarding USBuxx:

Went to WM last Friday to load BB at the register with $1K (paying with USbuxx card). Transaction was denied because I was at my $5K BB Limit (apparently I suck at math). Went on my merry way and checked my USBuxx balance this morning to find the status is "PFRAUD". Crap. Placed a call to USBuxx and they said I needed to provide documentation of the return for them to place the credit on the account. I explained that there was no return and that the transaction was denied at the register and therefore, I have no documentation or receipt.

Note: I did not get into explaining what the transaction was for as I didn't want to explain why I was loading a prepaid card with a prepaid card.

The USBuxx lady told me that Walmart has to call them to clear the issue and provide documentation. I laughed and thought "Yeah, right..Walmart will take time to take care of this for me". I made a stop to WM and talked with a supervisor and she said they can't do anything because there is no receipt to show. I'm sure they could resolve the issue if they wanted but I didn't really think WM would play ball anyway.

I called back and again explained my situation and Walmart's response but they were adamant that I provide a receipt proving a return. I explained over and over again how I did not return anything and how the transaction was declined at the register. I asked to close the account and she said they cannot do that and my money will be placed in a hold until they get documentation (I had ~$1400 balance at this time).

I threatened a FDIC complaint and she said "Well, let me take a look here, I think I may have just noticed something". After a few minutes on hold, she magically resolved the issue.

So long story short - - I guess you have to threaten a FDIC complaint to get issues resolved with USbuxx.

I don't think they check much of anything, to be honest. Have at it (within reason).

Editing in a 3rd card. There is definitely 2 separate limits. Enjoy.

I can confirm this also.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I have been loading my serve/softcard with USBuxx at the register lately, as kate seems to be continuously out of order.

Today I went to load my serve card and the WM rep at the register refused to load $1000 and told me to go the Money Center. Since I loaded $1000 yesterday at the MC and the same rep who worked yesterday was there, I went to another register to try my luck. The lady at the register frowned after hearing that I want to load 1k, but then swiped the card.

It seems to be getting harder for me unloading cards at WM and I have not even tried using VGC at the register or MC. Its not economical for me to make multiple trips to WM loading/unloading smaller amounts.

Only worked for me to have a birthdate that made your child a teen. My daughter is almost a teen and I entered her correct birthdate and I got an error.

Question for those loading BB with USBuxx:

Why aren't you cashing out at US bank ATMs? Why load BB/serve?

Strange. I added my wife (using her SSN) and input her correct birthdate. She's definitely out of her teens.

Granted, this was ~6 months ago.

They don't check if your "teen" is too old (i.e. > 18), but they do have age validation on the other end - your "teen" has to have a birthday that makes them at least 13 or something. Not that they actually verify with the SSN (or even check if the SSN is a real one or not), so...

I don't think this is advisable. If you've been locked out once, you may be triggering a flag on your account.

Hogs get fat... etc

I don't use my USBuxx for withdrawing from ATM or loading BB but I think its just a pain to only be able to withdraw $200 at a time. I never tested withdrawing 3 times a day at $200 each for a max of $600. Also I had a bad experience (partially my fault) with withdrawing money at night at a US Bank ATM. Lets just say the US Bank ATM ran out of money during the weekend and only spit out $100 when I was suppose to get $200. Took like a month or so to get back my $100 after filing the claim forms. Lesson learned is never withdraw a night since you can't contact the folks inside the bank if there are issues.

In general I think its just easier and quicker to drain the funds with dumping to BB. Plus a transaction on BB may make it appear as a purchase from Walmart. No need to do unnecessary trips to US Bank ATMs...and then have to go to your bank to dump the funds in your checking account.

And if you are running several accounts you would get too much cash. As crazy as it sounds these days banks don't like cash...

Sometimes I withdraw 3x$200 on my Buxx card and my wife's card. Then pull around to park and go inside with $1,200 cash to deposit. I've never raised any suspicion but I don't do this very frequently. I'm small time so I don't typically max out my BB limit and it's just easier to dump it there or go buy a MO.

YMMV I guess. I have several cards, always withdraw/deposit cash. Never raised any suspicion. Have broke the ATM more than once, and emptied it once, but they deposited the missing amount in my checking account 2 weeks later.

Although when back in the states next year I'll probably load to Serve in Walmart to save some time!
