Got snail mail notification today of the changes to TDGo. Essentially verbatim from what is posted previously.
No one contacted me for my opinion. Doesn't look like they contacted anyone else here. |
Not much, but if there's a TD Bank nearby, the TD Buxx does give you access to the coin machine free, so might be worth it to hold onto.

I have been using some AU cards to load so I don't think it has anything to do with since AU cards are legit since they have our names on it.
Good luck dealing with USB if you decide to re-open. |

I got the letter too. It stated that it is important to them to offer services that meet their customers needs and they review their feedback.

Not being contacted about my opinion is fine with me. It is however, somewhat audacious to claim that they are making changes because "it's important to offer accounts and services that meet our Customer's needs".

They are right since we are not their target customers...

I'm wondering if its because the name and SSN do not match then. It is a valid SSN, but I'm not 100% sure on the name -- it is the used name, but not the given name.(yes it is being used with consent)
It is only the parent account that requires the name to match the CC(s) for obvious reasons. |

I got a new Ink plus card, should I load the USB buxx card in 2-3 days for the $2000, or space it out over a month mixed in with other charges? Is Chase likely to shut me down?

Agreed though to their credit it is a fairly graceful shutdown. They didn't just pull the plug on it. We got 30 days notice more or less so it could be worse and as you say on to the next thing.
Shutting us down actually shows me that somebody at the bank has half a brain, and the advance notice shows me they're trying to be customer friendly. It would be interesting to see the stats, but I assume Flyertalkers are the vast majority of their Go card customers. There's little other reason to have the card (I guess you get it for your kid if you don't trust them with a regular credit card), and I assume most "real" customers aren't maxing this out at $3K a month. We're obviously money-losing customers, so it's hard to complain that they don't want to keep giving us their money. |
damn it. at least TD Go didnt pull a Wells Fargo Prepaid Debit Card on us.... (i.e. shut us down without warning)
|
Have to agree with the PPs, I can't even get upset about their shutdown. They gave us the time to get our last couple K though and out before the plug is pulled.

did you take a screenshot of application for that 'teen'? I do screenshots of my applications to make sure I know exactly what I submitted in case they tell me something else.
It is only the parent account that requires the name to match the CC(s) for obvious reasons. I do mean the parent SSN the one where I am fudging the name a bit. I do currently have a set of usbuxx up and running under my own name, and was going to set up some under another name/ssn combo I had access to. The name does match the CC. |
