Signing up to buy $1000 visa/mc gift cards
You can buy the $1000 cards on Simon's volume site. Their regular site only sells $500 cards.
If you're new, or haven't bought anything in a year, you need to register at https://www.simon.com/volume/register-consumer
As part of the registration process, you will have to go to a brick and mortar mall and buy at least $3000 in cards in person, as well as filling out some paperwork while there. After that, you can do everything online.

As of Nov 2020, Simon Mall Gift cards will only work for $99/swipe for money services at Walmart and many grocery chains.

$1000 gift cards are available indefinitely.

Just as I predicted, someone was working a bot against their "check balance page". I guess indian developers could do sh**t about it and decided to go the easy way. Now, if you submit more than 5 request in a certain time frame, server gives 429 error:
"A 429 error occurs when you have sent too many requests in a given time frame. Some servers have security in place to stop when request numbers go over a certain limit in a certain amount of time"
as if bad guys can't rotate proxies and browsing agents.. No wonder they got hacked.

While the malls themselves are open, none of ones I use are selling gift cards at the moment and when speaking to a manager, none have any dates in the future when they will restart.

Let us know how it is in the wild west

Out of curiosity, for those that have been ordering, what kind of volume are you ordering?
20 $1000 cards including shipping and fees - $20,073.20. Standard shipping - 7 days from order to delivery.
ps Have cycled all but three cards - no problems yet.

How did you begin the verification process? Because as I see it, you need to register and use this shopping portal https://www.simon.com/volume/ for $1,000+ cards and that requires a TIN and an SSN can't be used to register. I tried.

Unfortunately
When I tried this AM, they wanted a TIN.
My wife's business does not file a tax return and has no TIN
When I tried her SS# xxx-xx-xxxx, it was not accepted.
What now??

Purchased a few $1,000 giftcards March 3rd and March 14th. I never used 2 of them. Today I realized they both were drained for 90% of the funds. They never left my possession. Unfortunately, I think I threw away one of the receipts away. Luckily I have a receipt for one of the $1,000 gc. I'm guessing I'm out of luck for the other one and don't expect to get reimburse.

If you purchase these, register them and use them as quickly as possible.

If you bought them at the mall, the mall should have the receipt, especially if you have the credit card billing date.

I would start by notifying SM and metabank of the fraud. and file a claim.
I would never and I mean never let $1000 go without a huge fight

Thanks. Yeah I will head to the mall once it opens back up. Can't believe there security is this bad that cards can be remotely used. Probably insiders?

I wouldn't wait that long. The sooner you file the claims the better.

Sounds like Simon has some major fraud on their hands with people saying both in store and online cards have been compromised.

For those choosing to register their cards, what is the benefit? I assume in store purchasing using credit would go through. Does it just make it easier to fix if something goes wrong?

The main reason would be to prevent unauthorized use online, i.e., where zip code is part of validation process.

I was at my local Simon Mall today. Still no gift cards. The manager doesn't know when they will have them available. She was not expecting to have gift cards soon.
