In the past week, I've had no difficulty using an Incomm-serviced gift card to buy money orders at 3 different Safeway stores. All had prominent signs up by customer service.
I wonder if I should target weekends and evenings for purchases. figuring that these newer employees are less likely to care or know of the memo.

Anyone able to quickly confirm if MCGC autodrains? I’ve cleared the shelves for all the VGC and only have MCGC leftover.

In my local Albertsons and Safeways here in WA state, no adverse signage, and no problem liquidating Visa G E gift cards at $200.

In the LA area, I was denied at two separate Albertsons after having no issues at a different location a couple days earlier. The first denial was a little more concerning because she definitely saw something on the screen after I had swiped and entered my PIN that made her think that I was using a gebit. She then asked to see the card. The transaction remained pending and I didn’t try a card switcheroo, so she kindly explained the rule change and pointed to the sign. I feigned ignorance, thanked her and went on about my business. The second happened upfront before swiping and a third store’s machine was down, so no opportunities for further datapoints. I’m driving to Vegas today and planning to hit up various stores along the way, so we’ll see what happens.
Update: Went 50/50 at Albertsons/Vons on the drive to Vegas. Two friendly, upfront “can I see the card you’ll be using” denials and one after I swiped - again, the employee seemed to see something on the screen that prompted him to ask to see my card. I recall someone mentioning once years ago re: Walmart machines indicating swipes vs chip, so perhaps that’s all it is. Will stick to WM for awhile until Safeway reps hopefully get less vigilant and can return to BAU.

Single-Swipe Test
How much was your purchase total ?
Test out a single-swipe purchase of $475/whatever.

I stopped by 4 Safeway's and was only denied at 1. It was the only store with the new signage; displayed prominently in the front. After I swiped she asked to see the card. I might have been able to get away with it with a switcharoo but she was too quick. I was liquidating Visa Pathward GC's from WalMart.

I've seen the signs taken down at 1 or 2 of my Safeway/Albertson's, but still haven't had the cajones to buy MOs with multiple VGCs. Figure I'll give it a couple more months, or at least wait until I don't recognize the agents due to staff turnover.

Decided to attempt to buy a $998.62 MO with 2 $500 VGCs at 2 different Safeways today and was successful both times. Still not sure it's worth the stress of attempting too many of these when there are plenty of easier MO options out there.

I got a 'Not Authorized' error at Albertsons when using SS MCGC (tried different cards). But no issues when using SS VGC. Anyone have same problem?

I need to occasionally make use of this. What are the other places, outside of Safeway, I could go to?
