agree when the items r on sale; otherwise, safeway's could be considerably more comparing to others like Fry's or HEB's, etc...

They usually are high on packaged goods, but I've had good luck getting meat/produce with sales and random $5-10 off coupons (outside of the rewards). Now they seem to have $5 off 25+ meat, which can be a nice way to stock up on chicken and salmon.

Rewards are only applying to specific categories now. Alcohol has been removed so meat/dairy may not work.

Might be store dependent. Throughout the week I tried unsuccessfully at 4 different stores, and today I went to a fifth resigned that I would just get all groceries, and after I scanned the first item, I had a negative balance, so I cancelled out, and picked up a 3rd party GC, and it worked like it used to. I then went back to one of the unsuccessful stores, and it remained unsuccessful.

It worked at a Safeway, and failed at a few Safeway and Albertsons stores

thanks. I remember they were able to be used at Safeway but since this is my first time buying the SS cards and I looked at the back and saw it say Metabank, I freaked out for a second and wasn't sure and forgot what the data points were when Safeway implemented the Metabank block. But I guess it is serviced by Incomm so maybe that is why it works.

Has anyone tried Everyday Select Rewards? How is it? Do you reload at the cashier like a grocery purchase?

Reloads are cash only. Cards are administered by Netspend (MetaBank). Most stores should have gotten rid of them by now after the changeover to Incomm (They’re not discontinued (yet) but they’re no longer on the planograms)

Thanks! Is there an alternative to the $5.95 fee GC's? Seems like they're phasing out the $4.95 ones
is Netspend a good alternative? I'm not sure if signing up for an account, etc. is worth it?
