DETAILS:
Bill Pay cannot be done at a regular register. BP must be done at Customer Service/Returns or at the Money Center in stores that have it.
WM offers two BP services: CheckFreePAY and MoneyGram. The cashier can initiate CheckFreePAY by selecting Money Services followed by Bill Pay on the register for a fee of $1-1.88. Moneygram is $4.99.
ONLY 4 successful debit card swipes can pay for a transaction. ONLY 5 payments per 16 digit account number per rolling 30 days.
CheckFreePay (800) 676-6148. - Look up payments using CC number and time of transaction

Standard BP- Once your CFP account is set up, you can add CC. When you want to BP give them your phone# to look up your account under Money Services. They often get confused and think you want MG, but just say it is under Money Services. Make sure you get 2 receipts, one from WM and a small one from CFP showing the CC# and Biller name you paid.

WM App - The Money Services works in express lane for BP, but has issues making 2 or more payments in a row. Make one BP, then come back or do another trans, then another BP to avoid issues. Make sure you get a BP receipt in the app and it shows the BP info and the CC you paid before leaving the store.

Some tips: If you don't get a receipt and they have to print you one, make sure the CC you paid appears on the printed receipt. If not on receipt, call CFP with the manager to verify there is no payment processing. They can cancel any transactions and pay you in cash right away. If they cancel the transaction and their cash drawer opens, that means they should pay you in cash, if it doesn't open, the money will probably return to your cards. Not sure what happens on the same day? Watch their drawer when they cancel the transaction to see if it opens. If they say the money will return to your DC, make sure to write down the managers name in case it doesn't.

BUSINESS DAY transaction completion time is 18:59:59 EST (Holidays change post day)
Friday after 06:59PM EST, until Monday BEFORE 07:00PM EST arrives Tuesday
Tuesday BEFORE 7:00PM arrives Wednesday
Wednesday BEFORE 07:00PM arrives Thursday
Thursday BEFORE 07:00PM arrives Friday
Friday BEFORE 07:00PM arrives Monday
But when a next-day payment will post and be visible depends upon the CC issuer.

If your particular card isn't on the list below, try "VISA" or "MASTERCARD."

"VISA" and "MASTERCARD" payee can no longer be found by search at some stores. If the employee can no longer find "VISA" or "MASTERCARD" by searching in CheckFreePAY, then you cannot pay either, end of story.

I just want to be prepared when I come to WM and talk with their cash office. Last time I talked to them (different issue), I got a sense they are not the brightest people in the world and they don't want to think - it it easy for them to say "it is clear on our side, payment was made, talk to CFP about it or wait".
CFP can track your payments with your phone number.

My WM processes my 1st payment, then scans an item (any item will do), voids that item and then it can process my second payment and so on and so forth.

if they don't scan an item it will hang?

will ask them to try scanning and voiding it.

Yes, my second payment will show "processing" and nothing happens. Initially we hopped from register to register until she tried this trick.

I called CFP and I had to provide account number to track the payment - there is no tail of such payment. They advised me to go back to WM and ask for refund.

yes, processing is whats on the POS and hopping to another register didnt help!

scanning and voiding a battery didnt work.

it must be a timout issue.

ive got some shopping to do anyways at WM.

Update: I went to WM and the guy who responded to me was an Asset Protection manager. After back and forth he confirmed that money at WM, but he believes that money will be credited back automatically on my cards in 5-7 days. I argued, but he insisted to wait and bring the statement shows that money didn't come back, then he says "we will handle it on store level". I don't know what it means.

As I predicted, it is difficult to deal with them on any level. Unless computer or higher-up says "return him money", they will make up thousands of excuses or other theories. How I hate that crap.

he just doesn’t want you to accidentally get 2 refunds. I can understand that.

I don't see why should I expect a refund. Transaction wasn't aborted or canceled. On his side, he sees $2K collected. Unless, there is something behind, I don't think refund in my way. I'm just worried to deal with them, because it might end filing dispute with gc.com, which make take few months to resolve.

That's ridiculous! CFP never got paid! Tell him to call CFP. That's what my manager did...with me right next to them.

Also, when this happened to me, a prompt showed up on the CSR's screen after the swipes asking if the transaction was successful.. She clicked yes, even though it wasn't.

Unfortunately, they don't think logically. He made theories, that "register still holds the money" and probably soon will release it, etc. I told them to call CFP, but he sees that money still at WM and his strong belief that money will be refunded "automatically" (why on earth?).

My only concern that I have to bring my gcs to show him zero balance and I don't really want to disclose that I use gift cards for payments. who knows what it can lead to.

I might be in the same boat. Friday night we had made one payment with the app, second payment with app did not work, so we did it the old way and no receipt printed, so CSM printed a receipt. I am not sure if my hubby keep track of the right GCs so I can't tell which was used for the app transaction vs the manual transaction. I thought I would wait til Monday, but not sure if I should wait. We did a third manual trans and that printed a receipt.

I will call CheckFreePay today.

For me, the printed receipt was only for cards charged. The CFP receipt didn't print because the transaction didn't go through.

I called and CFP only has one payment scheduled which makes sense since the receipt the CSR gave me doesn't show any BP info which I mentioned to her, it only shows the GC used. Going back this morning.
