The thread for 2018 is here.
***If you buy gift cards outside promotions, you will earn ZERO points.***

Giant MD and Stop & Shop's points now stack with Shell's Fuel Rewards. See more here.
If you link a Mastercard to Fuel Rewards, you will earn an additional $0.15/gal for every $100 spent on anything at Giant/S&S with that card through the end of the year.

Accepted tender: Cash, credit, and debit. Also available are mobile/contactless payment (Apple Pay, etc.) and mobile loyalty (card barcode via app).

Summary
Stop & Shop (S&S), Giant Food Stores (Giant PA), and Giant Food (Giant MD) offer points for purchases which can be redeemed for a discount on the price paid per gallon on fuel sales at Shell and S&S/Giant fuel stations. $100* spend = 100 pts = 10c/gal discount. The particular rules vary between the three brands, and within Giant PA, the rules vary by location. Refer to the bottom of this wiki post for more information or links to official info from each brand.

Feel free to update this Wiki or suggest improvements. The goal is to help all of us spend less on gas!

Additional Information

• A loyalty card is required to take advantage of gas rewards. They look like the above image and can be obtained either online (links at end of wiki) or in-person (at the customer service counter).

• The cards currently on promotion are listed in the current weekly circular and usually change every week. VISA and MC from Metabank or US Bank for $20-$500 (plus $5.95 fee) work. For GCs, if it meets the previous requirements, the packaging (blue, silver, birthday cake, etc.) doesn't matter! Check the issuing bank on the back.

• S&S and Giant (DC, DE, MD, and VA) allow you to redeem up to 1500 points ($1.50/gal) per fuel purchase, and points expire 30 days after the qualifying purchase. With Giant PA, there is no limit to the number of points redeemed at one time.

• Points earned in one program cannot be used in another program.

• Your ID may be required when buying gift cards. Your name and other info may also be recorded for purchases over a discretionary dollar value. Whether you're buying a $100 card or a $5k stack, your experience will vary.

• You can view your account online using the link at the bottom of the wiki.

• It's best to purchase gift cards at the customer service counter, but reports state that a single $500 gift card can be paid for at any register without an issue. Purchases over $1k will require manager authorisation with a physical key, which may slow down the queue. You can go to the Solution Center to save time and make things easier for everyone.

• Giant Eagle and Giant Food are different chains with different ownership, and this thread is not relevant to the former.

• If you have more points in your account than are redeemed for a fuel purchase, then the remaining points will stay in your account until their respective expiration date(s). For example, if you have 2500 points and debit the 1500 ($1.50/gal) maximum, you will have 1000 points left. Similar behaviour if gas is ever below $1.50/gal before discount.

• If you don't receive eligible points with your purchase due to system or human error, you can have them retroactively added by customer service (in-store or by phone). Have your receipt and a copy of the advert. It can take up to 24 hours for keyed points to appear in your account.

a little late to this - i used to buy the kevlars until i noticed some of them are sunnies. i didn't have a problem liquidating them, but i just feel more comfortable with the metas. sport and balloon ones worked fine for me twice last week, 4.5k total.

Them not coding correctly cost me this time. When I went back to get my points adjusted at Giant (and get a new round) a financial manager or something was there. She told the guy to make sure to enter all 10 of my gift cards individually in the log. That made no sense and she changed her mind when she saw the log, but its always a bad sign when a high up person gets nosy and wants to make her own nonsensical rules and has no clue what she's talking about.

When I went back there a few days later, I was told that woman told customer service that I can't buy more than once a week because of "Western Union" not liking it. She wasn't there, and I asked another manager about it, but he just said some stuff about it being suspicious (he said I could buy $5000 worth of groceries if I wanted though). Fortunately she didn't "warn" the other Giants in the area (that happened once for me back when you could get money orders) but it was and will be in the future a time waster. I tend to buy a lot of gift cards during these promotions... ironically I rarely use the gas myself since there is no convenient gas station, but I'm a hero to others.

I haven't bought money orders there for years. She's just completely clueless. And she's their financial manager or something similar. I feel like 75% of my bad errands in this business are the result of older clueless women who want to be Wonder Woman.
stacker likes this.

Officially No (gift cards are not allowed for MO purchase), but YMMV

I recall a discussion from a year or two ago about battery-operated siphons. This morning, as I was standing in the cold slowly draining a 5-gallon can into my car trying not to spill any gas, I thought "Hmmm, looks like these gas gift card deals are going to go on for quite some time. Maybe I should get a siphon." Can anyone update on what a good inexpensive solution is? Thanks!

Looks like a good product. It's also about $50.

If I don't want to invest that much in a pump, does anyone have a recommendation for something that would still make transferring the gas from a gas can to a gas tank easier than using a funnel?

I use "no-spill" cans with their 6" flexible nozzle extension and I can pour directly from the can to the vehicle. This works well for me and I would think any similar nozzle attachment should work.

I've used this for about a year now and have done several hundred gallons with it. Only $15 and free shipping, money well spent. No issues and you can stop it anytime so no fuel spill if the tank is full. I just use a normal funnel for the last ounce or so since it can't get every last drop out of a 5 gallon tank.

Looking to take advantage of the 10X points this week at S&S by buying the Best Buy gift cards. Anybody know if I can buy Shell gift cards with the Best Buy gift cards?

Also, used the points earned from last week's S&S 2X points VGC promo last night for the first time. Saved $2.98/gallon and paid only $0.019/gallon here in NJ. I used my FR card which has the S&S card linked. I still don't see my purchase from last night on my FR account transactions. How long does it typically take to show up?
