Well, there are some uses for Evolve even if the biller accepts a credit card payment without a fee. For example, if you're buying VGC at a store with a category bonus you can come out ahead versus paying a biller by credit card directly at 1x.

But why not just use the VGC on the DTV site? Why involve Evolve?

Ha, that was my thinking too.

I've been reading that people are having problems using OV or VGC on Evolve. Is this majority, or just a few randoms?

Hmm... Evolve has gotten very confusing lately. Tried scheduling 2 payments today to be paid next Wednesday (this first day they allow me to). It won't let me schedule the second payment, saying I already have a payment scheduled for the same date and same amount.
On top of that it now gives the warning that gift cards cannot be scheduled more than 1-2 days out or the issuer may deny. But I don't have a choice - EM forces me to schedule it 1-2 days out. Does that message mean from the time I schedule the payment? Or the time that the card is charged (which I have no control over). Strange. I had to schedule two separate $500 payments to land on separate days. It lets me continue to schedule another payment even though I've hit the $1k mark, but I'm not going to try it, lest I get hit with the recurring payment error everyone is getting. I just hope I don't get another $500 hold on the cards I put in so far. Cross my fingers and we'll see. |

Cross my fingers and we'll see. I did not make payment today- Saturday- due to Monday being two days away and that VGC may decline a future payment as recurring payment. I will have to try on Monday early morning. If it shows Monday itself as charge date before bank opens, I think it will reduce chances of decline |
Of course a lot of people could go to other vendor's individual sites and pay their bills with a CC. But when someone comes along and creates a one-stop shop for 90% of your bills and it works flawlessly for months you start to depend on it. Heck you might even recommend it to your friends and relatives. Then they might start using it and recommend it to their friends. Pretty soon you have a lot of people using a great product.
Then the service changes and its no longer the one stop shop. You can't pay all of the bills you once could and the design of the site leads to a lot of confusion. People are losing interest and they stop recommending the service and some might even stop using the service. Again, AlexAtEvolveMoney indicated they are committed to providing a way to pay your bills with a Gift Card and they have failed on that commitment. Everyone makes mistakes. Its time for EM to take the necessary steps to correct what's wrong and gain customer interest again. To anyone who is out there from Evolve Money please fix your site so we can pay the bills we once did. Thank you! |

Evolve Money appears to be discouraging payments over weekend. One the first screen, it gives a VGC charge date- today being Saturday- It shows Monday as VGC charge date and on second screen it shows Wed as pay date to the bank.

If it shows Monday itself as charge date before bank opens, I think it will reduce chances of decline So I cancelled the other payment I scheduled, and this morning, submitted a fresh new bill payment to be paid asap (aka Wednesday) and will be charged today. So far it's still in pending, but hopefully that one goes through ok. I'm hoping it was a weekend scheduling issue as Nishant1 alluded to. I won't submit any more payments until this one goes through. I'll update when I find out. |
Error - duplicate

This weekend, I tried paying the Gas Company using a VISA debit card (gift card) from GCM. I know that the card had a sufficient balance to make this payment. But it FAILED.

So the payment I scheduled on Saturday for this Wednesday to be charged today failed this morning without any description of the problem. I don't have the card on me to check, but I assume they've placed another hold on the money, which took 8 days to fall off last time. Ugh.
