15k/week? I've thought 2.5k/day and 10k / month are supposed to be the official load limits.
Are they not enforced?

Thanks. I wanted to play nice atleast until I unload all my money. I went ahead and provided ID, scans of MVD and VRs with receipts right away and confirmed over the phone that they received. I was told to wait 24-48 hrs to clear the issue. Based on last two pages (comments from Prasha...) I thought I will play nice. I will take it slow in future and use these MVDs only if absolutely necessary. But thanks, it is relieving to hear that they are obligated to pay me back some way or other.

could not wait longer than two biz days. Just filed a complaint with CFPB.

I've had no issues getting multiple MOs using my temp card and pin.
Also haven't experienced any debit transaction limit as of yet. I've done $500, $1K and $1.5K MO transactions and all were approved. I'm tempted to try a $2K next.

Any issues using MVD for debit card transactions?
I have one credit card that will accept debit cards for payment.

The same.

The second online attempt. Tried to enter info exactly as in my SS card, with middle name, address on the same lines.
Unsuccessful.

Why wouldn't they accept faxed copies of ID/SS card ??.. if they just had to verify identity.

With your unlimited BB accounts I'm surprised you would be interested in this. ;)

How do you think MOs are being purchased?

What I'm trying to determine is if anyone has been shut down for simply doing MO's, or are the shut downs occuring solely from CA's? Any insight woud be appreciated.

I've been maxing out the debit purchase limits buying MO and have not been shut down. When they started enforcing the monthly/annual debit limits I starting mixing in the occasional CA. YMMV, no one really knows what triggers a shutdown.

So how do people do Cash Advances or MOs on temp cards?

You just have to register the card online and set a PIN. After you do that, everything will work the same as if it were a permanent card.

Id wait till the permanent card arrives for doing CAs

It's likely true you will get more scrutiny for doing a CA on a temp card with no name on it, but that doesn't mean it won't be allowed. When I CA'd a temp card, the teller was willing, although I'm well known at my credit union so that might have helped. She did ask for my DL and wrote down all my info, name, address, DL number, etc. on the CA slip but they do that regardless of whether it's a temp card or not. I'm not sure if the CA procedure is the same everywhere, as this CU is the only place I've ever done a CA.

Let's not be so quick to go to the CFPB people! I was shutdown, and in less than 2 days after providing the documents they asked for, my accounts were restored. MVD seems to be extremely easy going about their limits and giving access back to our accounts once they have done their ID check. I think it might be good to give them the same respect. If they get too many of these complaints and official reports, they might want to crack down and enforce a little more! That's just me, but I hate to see them change their ways.

What is the waiting period? should they check before or after opening the account? well, If they did before U would not load and they could not hold on your money?

I'm with catpaws here.

FYI - on my current shutdown I was asked for ID, SSN, receipt and VR copies. However on calling in to confirm today they are also asking for proof of address using a current utility bill.

I knew the 1st few requirements thanks to posts here, so had everything stacked up in case I got shutdown. If I'd known about the utility bill I'd have done it in one shot.

FYI-2: I have a Fujitsu scansnap and it make doing front and back copies of VR and DL a snap! I recommend one for this stuff.

Re: my temp card woes ... just realized I did a $1500 bill pay last week on the same card. I'm guessing there may be a transaction limit for the temp card because what I tried yesterday was larger.

TTT103 Nov 20, 2013 12:18 pm

Call me a geek, but I read through the terms and conditions twice and see nothing about debit limits. The only thing I see is that you can have no more than $9,999 loaded to the card at any time and can load no more than $500 X 5 daily via VR's. Where are the debit limits coming from?
