I realize that the "true debit card" works. But do any prepaid debits (OneVanilla, MyVanilla etc.) that you can theoretically buy with a CC successfully load onto Bluebird like a "true debit"?
This is why so many people that have been reading this forum for a while get irritated. People do not want to take the time to read a little and find their own answers. It has been suggested many times to read the first few pages and the last 10 pages and you will find most of the answers that you want. This forum would probably be half the size if all the new people would just follow this advice.
That being said if you read back JUST 5 posts you find your answer!

Well, I got chewed out for posting basic questions too, and I posted the questions since the few thousand entries can be hard to go through. A sticky FAQ for these issues would be a big help for newbies.

That post didn't answer my question. Sorry. Prepaid debits are not giftcards

loading BB at WM with a debit card requires a PIN, if your card can use a Point of Sale(POS) Personal Identification Number(PIN) then you are good to go. I do not know of one that exists.

The kind of debit card that works for loading BB in Walmart is like WF or Suntrust. I think a good test is if you can buy a money order at Walmart with whatever you are thinking of using, then you can probably also use that debit card to load BB.

You can also use the "search thread" feature on this forum to type in the name of a card you are thinking of using to see if anyone has reported trying it and what their reported results were.

That's because they are lazy and don't care to have to do such nonsense as work at this. They are entitled you know. They actually work harder at making their wheel squeak louder to get the grease than they do actually research, applying, or experimenting on their own research. Then if that wheel hasn't received the spoonfed grease to the liking of their demand, then their second tactic is to complain why someone can't just give them the grease and to complain that the forum is unfriendly if this second tactic fails.

Since VRs brought in a new breed, it is an all too common whiner tactic used by most of them.

Intolerant to them that if they actually researched, they would have the answer and would not have to post the same questions over and over. Intolerant to them that some information needs to be kept to PM. Ignorant of them that they are new and do not automatically qualify to sponge the work that others have done before them simply because they signed up for an account and now further feel deemed entitled.

Dont let it get you down rdaven, ignorance is the best bliss. (they (will learn to) love it too )

Wait for it... there's more whining to come...

Surely I jest

DEAL DEAD!

OMG! The deal must be dead! I just tried to purchase a VR at CVS and they said "cash only" and then physically escorted me from the store when I started with the "it worked last week..." line.

Seriously, it has been almost 24 hours since someone wrote a post like this and I can't survive without the small adrenaline jolt I get from checking this thread in order to ensure my max-out 5% cashback scheme is still alive.

For the record, I bought a VR at CVS with a CC at today at 11:20 AM EST in Northern Virginia. ID check as usual, no issues.

OMG!
We need more data points to confirm any change in policy nationwide. As I wrote yesterday, the "deal" is not at CVS, it's at OD - once OD shuts down, then we are done in terms of rapid accumulation. There are still other options, albeit much slower, for accumulating miles at lower cost - and no, they won't be be discussed openly here.

I will head out later to my usual OD and CVS haunts and see if the ship is still stable in my area.

OK. That sorta answers my question. So you're saying that none of these prepaid debits uses a PIN? See, I have no experience with those cards. So, I don;t know if any of those prepaid debits use a PIN or go through automatically as a credit card style transaction.

VR's for BB are hard to come by aside from CVS around me and I haven't been tempted enough to try because of the low 2% return. I do however have access to Staples which offers plethora of prepaid cards (aside from gift cards) and that's my best bet. Supermarkets are my second choice to find the same cards. There are so many, it's hard to remember all the names: PayPower, OneVanilla, MyVanilla etc....

I know PayPal sorta can work but I read a lot of negative things about them concerning overzealous fraud monitoring and frozen accounts. Now, it's hard to know exactly what all these people do to get this retaliation but it's all I have to go by.

LOL...nice one! I bought one last night after work via CC without incident. A "first day on the job" teenager was working the register and had to have someone help her the whole way through. They were reading the screen at every step, so this register clearly didn't tell her cash only. The end will come eventually, but it's still working for now.

Next time you are at the store, write down the names of what you see on the rack. Anything that does not have a PIN will not work so you can eliminate all of those. Then come here and use the "search this thread" feature to search the card names left on your list to see if anyone tried them and what the results were.

Well, now if you change your viewing preference to show more posts per page, there are only about 170 pages or so.
