Just saw the site for the second Four Seasons Doha at the Pearl, set to open 2012. VERY smart indeed, with loads of high-end shops, a Marina and Venice-like waterways. Around 300 rooms/suites.

Porto Arabia is in a very finished state, with numerous chic shops and restaurants already open. There are marinas, bridges - a very elegant area on the edge of the sea. The Four Seasons sits across one of the bridges and is currently breaking ground. The plans look very interesting indeed.

hmm
disney has announced first residential offerings - homes and 36-44 homesites
http://disneygoldenoak.disney.go.com/
mentions access to 'FS golf course, restaurants, event space, spa'
but no mention of four seasons residences / residence club yet..
ah, not great news >

hmm, this suggests disney residences and not FS residences. if thats accurate, real bummer.

I’ve been sent word that what little construction we’ve been seeing on other sites labeled as being part of the Four Seasons resort really isn’t the Four Seasons at all. Apparently the Four Seasons resort proper really has yet to even do much more than some site clearing. All of the construction seen so far is really for the entrance and front end of the Golden Oak residential project.

FS being considered for La Defense Paris
Nothing to get your hopes up but apparently these are serious negotiations for a Four Seasons Hotel at the Hermitage Plaza Tower in La Defense district in Paris

due to be completed by 2016
agreement is to be ratified by EPAD's board on 15 July and applications for building permits are due to be filed by the end of July. Assuming that permits are granted by spring 2011, construction could start in summer 2011.
1.8 million square feet of housing [3.3Kft2 average], a hotel
advanced discussions with a European banking syndicate on a $872 million credit line and will invest $312 million to $349 million of its own funds. The remaining $1.2 billion is expected to come from sales of units in the towers for which it has already received 3,200 expressions of interest for 540 apartments. [$2.2MM average] It is negotiating with the Four Seasons group to put one of its hotels into the towers.

This is all very interesting. When Didier le Calvez was GM of FS George V, he wanted Prince Alwaleed to create a second Parisian hotel, but more contemporary - a great idea as Paris is bereft of a really top contemporary property. The idea never took off, unfortunately, so it looks as though FS have been talking to other investors. La Défense would certainly be ripe for a contemporary Parisian hotel.
