Smile Searching for perfect Paris Hotel

My family and I will just be in Paris for 2 nights July 20 and 22 this month and I am dazzled by the choice.
I would like a very parisan luxury hotel in a lively area, my husband and I will have our 2 kids boys ages 10 and 15 with us .
Any Ideas...? Thanks

I would recommend the Four Seasons Hotel George V. Its my favorite hotel in Paris. In my opinion, it is the best hotel in Paris by a mile.

Welcome to Flyertalk.

You say you want "a very Parisan luxury hotel." Do you have a price range?

The Plaza Athénée is even nicer that the George V but it also can run more that $1,000 a night per room. Let's not even get started on The Ritz.

Mods, shouldn't this be moved to the France forum?

The Plaza Athenee unfortunately is not as nice of hotel as the George V. Its a cheaper hotel option. The rooms are not as well decorated and the service is not that great. If you enjoy hearing your neighbors, the Plaza Athenee is a great hotel.

The George V was ranked the Top International Hotel by Zagat Survey, Gallivanter' Guide, best hotel in Paris according to the Conde Nast Gold List and Travel and Leisure.

I would also recommend the Hotel Meurice for the location and the views.

A less expensive option... I would recommend the Pavilion De La Reine on the Place De Voges.

Le Meurice and the Ritz Paris are both great hotels, and I think their location is better than the George V for the purposes of most tourists.

The Ritz, located on the Place Vendome, has a especially good Virtuoso amenities -- complimentary continental breakfast daily (via room service if you want), VIP welcome at the airport (you're escorted through immigration and customs), upgrade at time of booking (if available), and a complimentary private limousine transfer from (or to) the airport or train station. (If you're getting two rooms, you'd most likely get round-trip transfers).

Le Meurice is a gorgeous hotel overlooking the Jardin des Tuileries. Their restaurant has just received its third Michelin star. Virtuoso guests also receive an upgrade at time of booking, daily American breakfast (via room service), 12 noon check-in and 4 p.m. check-out.

I know Pavilion De La Reine is much loved by many Flyertalkers but we stayed there in April and were quite disappointed. It really didn't feel like luxury in the slightest (maybe we just had bad luck on the room) and the service was really odd and the vibe was awkward. The location was fantastic and the breakfasts were tasty but I have a hard time coming up with anything else really positive to say about the place.

I've stayed there at least six times. You?

I have never had a problem with noise.

The service is superb, on a par with other luxe establishments like the Dorchester or the Baur Au Lac.

Also, they have one of the best restaurants in the city, Alain Ducasse. The Bar is a well known "happening" spot, much more fun than the bar at the George V.

No need, as the OP has cross-posted this in that forum as well.

FSGV is by far the best regarded by regulars in this forum

I did some price/availability checking for the OP's dates.

The Four Seasons George V only has suites left (and he wants two rooms) beginning at 1570 EUR.

Some of the Virtuoso rates are quite attractive, and they all include breakfast and upgrades on arrival if available.

I still recommend Le Meurice at 580 EUR (Virtuoso rate for a Superior Room, upgradable at booking).

Hotel de Crillon has a BAR rate at 570 (and they extend Virtuoso amenities at the BAR: Club access and free airport transfer).

The Ritz Paris has Superior Rooms for a Virtuoso rate of 640 EUR (upgradable at booking to an Executive Room). This includes VIP airport greeting and free limo transfer.

Hotel le Bristol has a Deluxe Room for 640 EUR with a 50%-off-the-second-room family plan.

Plaza Athenee has a 630 EUR Virtuoso rate for a Superior.

Park Hyatt Paris Vendome has a Deluxe at 580 EUR.

This isn't a poll. If you have stayed in one or the other, by all means give your opinion.

"FSGV?" That's funny. Try saying that in French.

FSGV gets some discussion, and some explain why they go with other properties in Paris

http://flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=304707
FSGV and Crillon each get a few mentions

What else is there to say other than that I did indeed stay at the Plaza Athénée multiple times and it is indeed a wonderful hotel. The comments about noise and bad service are not true in my experience.

Again, if you have stayed there, and you want to contribute your opinion, by all means, let's hear it.

Once one stays at the Four Seasons George V one will realize what one was missing all the times one stayed at the Plaza Athenee. The Plaza Athenee is a less expensive alternative to the George V. Its a good cheaper option.

although for some its a style decision.

anyone have thoughts on the "lively area" comment?

FS is probably out at 3000 euros+ for 2 1BR or 1 2BR

potential confirmed virtuoso upgrades >
-from superior 1BR suite to superior 2BR suite at ritz
-from junior suite to deluxe junior suite at meurice, only useful if theyll allow 4 guests instead of stated 3

-at plaza athenee if OP booked connecting superior + deluxe, upgrade should be connecting deluxe + junior suite if available at checkin
-crillon isnt really clear on what rooms connect..

uh.. just looked at other thread.
600-700 euro for 2 rooms for 2 nights with breakfast..
that does sound like they want rooms for 175-350 euros/night... if the latter, the lancaster is 315 euros.
