The Plaza Athénée is even nicer that the George V but it also can run more that $1,000 a night per room. Let's not even get started on The Ritz.

Mods, shouldn't this be moved to the France forum?
The Plaza Athenee unfortunately is not as nice of hotel as the George V. Its a cheaper hotel option. The rooms are not as well decorated and the service is not that great. If you enjoy hearing your neighbors, the Plaza Athenee is a great hotel.

The George V was ranked the Top International Hotel by Zagat Survey, Gallivanter' Guide, best hotel in Paris according to the Conde Nast Gold List and Travel and Leisure.

I would also recommend the Hotel Meurice for the location and the views.

A less expensive option... I would recommend the Pavilion De La Reine on the Place De Voges.
