This a tough question. There are hotel rooms I loved because I just liked it alot, but weren't that deluxe. and there were rooms that I liked because I like the attributes of the hotel/resort so much, I liked the room as part of the whole property.

Well here's what I have off the top of my head. (no specific order)

1. The Chairman Suite at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo. Japan
2. Tent at the Four Seasons Golden Triangle. Chiang Rai, Thailand
3. Pool Villa at the Sila Evason Hideaway Ko Samui. Thailand
4. Hydro Pool Pavilion at the Rayavadee. Krabi, Thailand
5. Premier Room at the Four Seasons Marunouchi
6. Villa at the Wanosato Ryokan Takayama, Japan
7. Grand Deluxe Room at the Peninsula Bangkok. Thailand
8. Landmark Room at the Raffles Beijing. China
9. Rice Terrace Pavilion at the Four Seasons Chiang Mai. Thailand
10. Overwater Bungalow at the Manihi Pearl Resort. French Polynesia
11. traditional suite at the Kayotei Ryokan. Yamanaka-onsen, Japan
12. Grand Deluxe Room at the Peninsula Tokyo
13. Ocean Deluxe Room at the Furama Danang Resort. Vietnam
14. Mandarin Deluxe Room at the Mandarin Oriental Tokyo. Japan
15. Luxury Room Historical Wing at the Sofitel Metropole Hanoi. Vietnam
16. Deluxe Twin Room at the Hyatt Regency Hakone. Japan
17. Deluxe Marina Bay View Room at the Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore
18. Beachfront Villa Suite at The Napasai. Ko Samui, Thailand
19. Overwater Bungalow at the InterContinental Moorea. French Polynesia.

My single best ever was the Adisorn Lodge Heritage Suite in the Oriental Hotel in Bangkok. I have always loved the hotel and have stayed there for more than 40 years. When I checked on my birthday I found myself staying here. I cannot attach "Mandarin" to it because it remains The Oriental to me. Details of the suite are: http://www.mandarinoriental.com/bang...ms_and_suites/

(15) Moegi room at Asaba Ryokan. 150 square meter tatami room, with 1.5 bathrooms, full Japanese cedar bathtub and balcony.
(16) 6th floor suite at the Hyatt Regency Kyoto. Beautiful Japanese bathrooms, balcony overlooking 300 year old garden.
(17) Ambassador suite at GHHK. 140 square meters of stuff.
(18) The Amanwana tent...
Are you sure you are done? Keep a mental list until you get to 50 then let us know the best. ^

The Martin Luther King Jr. Suite at the IC-Willard Washington D.C. It was about 8 years ago so my memory is a bit hazy but there were marble floors, a plaque in the room explaining it's significance, gorgeous views, nice bathroom etc.

1. Straits Suite at the E & O in Penang, Malaysia...the colonial look, the butler service, fresh flowers, the view of the Straits of Malacca, the Egyptian cotton sheets...pure bliss!

2. Deluxe Pool Villa at AKA Resort in Hua Hin, Thailand...350sqm, 10m pool, total privacy to romp around AND the resort had an exquisite French restaurant!

3. Historical Suite at Sofitel Centara in Hua Hin, Thailand...again, awesome colonial feel, especially loved the white stone bathroom.

4. Count Kalnoky's Guesthouse in Miklosvar, Romania...quite unique, gives you a feel of what it would have been like to live like a rural nobleman in Transylvania

Haven't been in this thread for a while. Current favorites are:

- Presidential Suite, Fairmont San Francisco (recap)
- Dalem Jiwo Suite, Amanjiwo (recap)
- Indrakila Suite, Amankila (recap)
- Honeymoon Tent, Jao Camp Botswana
- Any tent, Aman-i-Khas
- Luxury Suite, The Oberoi Amarvilas
- Duplex Suite, Amandari
- One Bedroom Water Suite (formerly Navarrana), FS Kuda Huraa
- Barn Cottage, Twin Farms

Looking over this list, I see few city hotels. There also seems to be an emphasis on view and setting. Interesting.

I'm the same with city hotels Ericka. I spend so much time discovering a city I don't concern myself as much as I do with a beach or cultural resort.

The Ngorongoro Crater Lodge

It's just very, very hard to top the view. The level of service is also crazy.
When it comes to interior design, ummm... it works in certain areas.

And don't forget: You're staying on the rim of the world's largest unbroken caldera with the highest concentration of game in any place, for your viewing pleasure on the crater floor 600 meters below.

I'd say that's a pretty awesome combination.
