...Incidentally spent my fourth night of this trip at GSY in the Sherlock Suite (booked guaranteed upgrade from King Premium on a Prive rate) and thought the fit and finish of the hotel was great. Yes it’s not the largest suite I’ve ever stayed in but I can’t say I was disappointed. I believe there is at least one on every floor rather than just one in the whole hotel.
The barman in the 40 elephants made some great off menu cocktails and the sibkin whisky bar looks like it could be a great spot for a late night drink when it finally opens.

Totally agree about the barman.

I haven’t stayed at the Churchill but I know I’d pick GSY over Andaz every day of the week.

Personally I was very impressed by the all the public areas but due to covid restrictions it just wouldn’t be as lively as it could. I feel Hyatt is holding on to the peak covid rules a little too long here but can understand they want people to feel safe.

The elevators were out of service and a very skinny teenager was lugging our bags up the stairs. We felt bad and carried them ourselves.
The suites are the oddest shapes and completely unliveable.
The top suites at The Churchill are decent. Balconies and fresh air are pretty important to us because of Covid.

Many of the rooms, three up from the first tier, are gorgeous, and the restaurants are wonderful as well. What needs work is the gym and the spa. The service has improved under the current GM but it still is not the Four Seasons.

St. Regis to join the long list of brands to open in London over the next few years:
UK’s first St Regis hotel is coming to London in 2023 (msn.com)
Taking over what was The Westbury Hotel.

Any actural thought about Belmond? Have a 500 $ voucher to burn and rates are quite OK (even as Junior Suites are in fact rooms). Nevertheless can´t say I´m flashed and with rates for a Junior Suite at Lanesborough are quite compareable I´m not so sure.
