Amanresorts Thread 2015 (Started by Amanjunkie)

amanera

Aman are proud to announce the launch of Amanera, scheduled to debut in the Dominican Republic during the fourth quarter of 2015. Overlooking Playa Grande beach from its cliff-top setting in the Dominican Republic, Amanera is surrounded by verdant jungle and backed by the island’s dramatic Cordillera Septentrional mountain range. Presenting the first fully-integrated Aman Golf Course, the resort lies alongside the lauded fairways and greens of Playa Grande. Originally designed by golf legend Robert Trent Jones, Sr., the course has been refreshed with new designs by his son, Rees Jones.

location
The Dominican Republic is situated on one of the largest and most geographically diverse islands in the Caribbean, Hispaniola. Boasting a fascinating colonial history dating back 500 years, today it is a burgeoning destination for golfers, nature lovers and cultural connoisseurs. Located on the northern shore and prized for its golden sands and clear, azure seas, Playa Grande is known as the Republic’s most beautiful beach. Amanera is perched atop 60-foot cliffs at Playa Grande’s western end, with lofty views out to sea. Water is intrinsic in the design of the resort, which draws its name from the Sanskrit-derived word for ‘peace’ and era, the word for ‘water’ in Taíno, historically spoken by the indigenous people of the Caribbean.

accommodation
Amanera presents 25 free-standing Casitas, all with flat bio-diverse roofs that cultivate green gardens, cool living spaces and blur the lines between dwellings and jungle. Every aspect of Amanera, including the Casitas, has been designed to maximise the property’s extraordinary views. Each of the 24 one-bedroomed Casitas, 13 with 10m private pools, has unobstructed ocean vistas from an expansive terrace and is accessed via a winding pathway through a private garden. The two-bedroomed Bay View Casa enjoys the resort's finest setting as well as a 20m swimming pool. From its prime cliff-side position it offers panoramic views of the ocean and Playa Grande beach, and a private footpath down to the sand.

dining & relaxation
At the heart of the resort lies Casa Grande which appears to ‘float’ above a three-tiered water feature and offers sweeping views at every turn. It houses the lofty open-air bar and lounge, library and cigar bar, and leads to Amanera’s signature restaurant with its indoor and outdoor dining areas. Beyond the restaurant lies the curved swimming pool with daybeds fringing the water’s edge. The resort’s informal beach club, the Club de Playa, is tucked into a sandy cove on Playa Grande beach and offers an informal dining area, water sports equipment and a children’s club.

aman golf
Spread over 370 acres of picturesque coastline, the Playa Grande Golf Course boasts 10 holes played directly on ocean cliffs, the most holes on the ocean of any course in the western hemisphere. The multiple bays formed by rugged cliffs alongside this 7,085-yard course make each hole – and its views – unique. The planned Aman Clubhouse will include a restaurant, the course’s ‘19th’ hole bar, a pro-shop, fitness centre, tennis courts and an Aman Spa.

aman spa
Designed as a tranquil sanctuary over two floors, the Aman Spa will have six single and two double treatment rooms, as well as a Pilates studio, yoga studio, meditation pavilion, watsu pool and a comprehensive gym.

Interesting that they've added another watsu pool to an Aman. Steve Karle will be delighted.

Care to elaborate? Being that I just had a conference call w/ GM and DOS for N America, both claiming it's "VIP waitlist only and no, can't offer rates/bookings for December/beginning of January"...curious as to what you mean?

Sounds about right, and that's exactly what I heard yesterday: they're refusing to give out rates for anything before the first week and a half of January. (Hence their email to you being Jan 11 and beyond).

Curious what FlyerEC heard about "VIPs and November"?

Introductory rates means hotel is not fully operational.
1800 USD minimum to have a private pool is quite high

Well , it ' s more a very , very " soft opening " in November. Possibly like what 5k did pre opening N'oi . Perhaps Aman not wanting to have guests stay unless Amanjunkies are open to teething issues , as with FDW ? .. ( call or write directly not via TAs ? )
LM225 , who did you email ??
