If I went to Amanpuri, I would expect everything onsite. I wouldn't want to fly from my room to the restaurant.

No wonder Amankora struggles to reach 50% occupancy, even during peak periods. It really is off the beaten path, with an illogical design.

If I was Zecha, I would sell off the Bhutan properties, and put the money towards capturing SS ninh van bay and SS zighy bay and turn them into Aman brands.

Have you been there? If not you might change your mind once there. The experience of the travel between the lodges makes for a very unique situation. We spent 7 nights two years ago and are going back for more next year. Aman luxury and service in the mist of a truely interesting cultural experieince was a delight.

“We are in dialogue for concluding transactions in hospitality and wind (energy) space this quarter or early next quarter," said Saurabh Chawla, executive director (finance), DLF. Asked by an analyst to explain why the company has been talking for so long about concluding the deal, Chawla said the Aman activity started in May and went into the market place only in June-July. “Any strategic transaction like Aman takes nine to 12 months," he said. “Due to the crisis in Europe, a strategic investor today wants some stability before taking a decision. This is taking time."

Ingo Reckhorn, Amanyara Villa Sales Manager, describes the sheer delight of homeowners on arrival to find their personal mementos in place, most comfortable clothes laid out and their favorite island dinner ready at the poolside dining pavilion.

Actually, it's even better than that! Pity he just showed his villa and not the rest, which is gorgeous. You will love it.

For Amanjunkies and other people who have stayed at the resort...

What is the fascination with Amanpulo?

It seems to be one of the best reviewed Amans (minus the food) in the world. Yet for me, a beach resort (fullscale or boutique) in Philippines means Boracay. Anything else other than Boracay seems a waste of time.

This is the problem I have with Amanpulo. It is not located in a good place.

If Boracay is supposed to be touristy, or backpackerish, why could you not stay at the high-end and reclusive Shangri-La Boracay Resort, for example? You won't see many working class people there, that's for sure.

Most other Amans seems to be located in prime locations within the countries they are built (apart from Amankila), but Amanpulo just seems pointless to me.

Unless you're a huge Amanjunkie, why would you even know the place existed?
