Italy again after many considerations as it seems to be the best option at the moment.

Esp if it's by a camp fire at Lebombo.
I'm sure you'll have a great time at Singita and Capetown.
Have a great trip and safe travels!

While I have my doubts that Japan will be open in Summer 2022, there are some very attractive rates for both FS properties, including the new Otemachi location. Starting rates at $300++.
In the meantime, recently got back from Greece (King George + Crete non-luxury + Mystique). Chicago in October (Langham for a wedding), CDMX in November (non-luxury with friends for Formula 1 GP), and then Paris for NYE.

Assuming the Travel Deities are with me:
fly SFO-CDG tomorrow afternoon, helped mightily by Bevisor. AF La Premiere.
Six nights at Le Britol in a Prestige Elysee suite
Six nights on the barge Renaissance, Upper Loire and Western Burgundy.
Much hoop jumping with Covid requirements. Still don’t have my passe sanitaire but there is substantive info indicating the U.S. CDC vax card is widely accepted.

How long did it take you to get from the gate to past immigration? Presumably you got to use the priority access line for business and first classes, or does La Premiere have a special arrangement?
Hoping the travel deities have been with you

I won't speak for Kat, but yes La Premiere is special. Generally you are driven in a Tesla from the airplane to the private lounge where there is an immigration officer only for LP passengers.

Very civilized. I'd guess you get similar treatment for check-in, security and passport control leaving CDG?

And I should have said for my above post that it is for transfers. I don't know if Kat was transiting to a domestic flight in France. If not, then you are just escorted through immigration and to whatever convenient point you need to get to. My last time they walked me to the Hertz counter where I picked up a rental.

When departing from CDG there is a special groundside lounge for LP. You hand over your passport and luggage and sit down and have a drink while they go get a BP for you and check your bags. You are then escorted through security and immigration to the lounge. Later when it is time to board, you are driven to the airplane, unless your gate is right next to the lounge.

See edit - returning the next day gets it down to about $11k, a premium of only $8k. Other than playing with dates, how can you get it much cheaper?

Another thing to consider is that JFK - CDG is a short, overnight flight. Maybe fly business there and then Premier on the way back where you will be awake to enjoy it more and have more time to spend in the CDG lounge if you prefer?

Playing with the dates is one way to get the fare down... the 28 day advance purchase is about USD9200.00 with taxes. Otherwise you can try to find a nearby departure city that does not have a 14/28 advance purchase rule. Air France might have an unpublished fare for a straight JFK-CDG-JFK but traditionally they are very protective over the small F cabin. Keep it empty for upgrades for staff members
