First Time Connecting in FRA: Security?
Hi all,
I will be connecting in FRA later this month, coming in from the US and flying out to India with 1:05 connection time. Both flights are operated by LH.
1. Is this enough connection time in FRA?
2. I will be taking a desktop computer CPU tower with me in my carry-on. I have verified that I will not have an issue clearing security in the US. Will there be another security check in FRA? If so, will they allow me to carry the CPU with me?
Thanks,
sntrao

I often take UA 933 with a connection from ARN, which usually landed me in the upper Schengen A gates. With the closure of the RCC then it appears that all the UA flights are from the upstairs non-Schengen A gates, which is very convenient if you get an A gate.
Once I took a shortcut by going through passport control up into the A gates and then taking the Sky train on the non-Schengen side to the C gates. Previosuly, I always took the train ride on the Schengen side, which dumps you in the check-in area and then quite a long walk to the passport control (and security in the past) for the C gates.
The LH/UA cooperation is dreadful. Last September 933 was cancelled so I headed to the A25 Senator lounge to try to get on the LH ORD flight. They could do nothing so I quickly call UA in the States (can't help me), so I hopped the Sky train to the check-in area. (Frist I tried to go upstairs but the passport control was unmanned and people were waiting for the police to return.) The elite check-in area had a dozen idle agents (LH staff) who could do nothing with 100 people in line for one or two UA staff doing rebooking. No premium lines, of course. So then I race over to C, go through passport and up to the RCC (this was 2 weeks before it closed). The guy in front of me is being rebooked to ORD and took the last seat. For me, no cigar.
To make matters worse they had kindly rebooked me automatically on Air India through EWR with a 7 hour layover. Gee, thanks, UA.
Do they have UA staff now in the Tower lounge?

There will be another security check in FRA. As long as the bag with the PC is inside the size/weight limitations there is no problem. I am often travelling with all kind of electronic equipment. Sometimes they swab it and check for explosives etc.
1 hour is doable if your inbound is on time. Depending on where you arrive and depart it can be a loooooong walk (like arriving in C and departing in A or vv)

There might even be two additional security checks, if you are unlucky enough to depart from the B30 - B35 gates. They are used for non-schengen shorthaul (e.g. to the UK) and misteriously have a secondary security check. If this is the case, 1 hr 5 mins is really tough ...

A very specific FRA connection question
I'm deliberately starting a new thread because I got a lot of helpful advice a few days ago with my rather general question. But I have been following the daily FRA arrival gate of LH439 and while it's normally BNS (from where I assumed I would walk to C13 to connect to LH686), today the arrival gate was A60. Looking at the Beginners' Guide to Connecting at FRA," I see I should take the Sky Line Train to get to C13. Now I'm really confused. I thought the train linked terminals 1 and 2. Is the train also used for internal transfers within Terminal 1?
I see that LH686 very often has a late departure. Perhaps it's to accommodate all the passengers making legal-sixty-minute connections.

Yes, it links T1A to T1C, too. Otherwise your walk would be pretty long.

The SkyLine train has 3 stops: T1 A, T1 B/C and T2 D/E. The T1 B/C stop is where concourses B and C meet as you will see on this map.
It's still quite a long walk from the B/C stop to C13 but much shorter than walking all the way from A60 as Flying Lawyer says. I don't even know if it's possible to walk all the way from A60 to C13 without entering the Schengen part of the terminal.
I once timed a walk from A63 to C15 (SEN lounge) via the SkyLine train and it took 17 mins.

If not you won't have a chance.
2. I'm not completely sure. If there is a security check you will be probably asked to unpacked the PC to send it through the X-Ray. They might even give it a secondary check.

Questions about Arrival at a Remote Apron Position and Bus Gates
I have been tracking the arrival gate of LH493 at FRA and for the longest time it has been BNS which of course means "Non-Schengen arrivals at Bus Gate". I have two questions:
(1) LH 493 is an A340-600. That must take alot of time to transfer all those passengers from a remote apron position and drive them to the main terminal by a bus. For those of us in economy class (ie. NO limousine), how long should it take for the whole process?
(2) By reading the "Beginner's Guide", I see that the most common BUS GATES are B3-8, B11-18, B30-33 and B50-62. As you exit the bus and go into these Bus Gates, is there an extra security check or just the same as if you had arrived at an ordinary arrival gate?
Our eventual destination is LH4086 which will depart most likely somewhere in the A Gates and least likely from the B Gates.

The bus gate numbers you mention are for departures. There is no security check when you get to B International Arrivals. If you are connecting to a Schengen flight you first go up to passport control (on level 3 I believe) then follow the signs to your departure gate. There will be security check after you go through passport control.

Question on FRA Connection
Hi all,
Will be flying ATL-xFRA-FLR on LH in a few weeks. Was wondering where I would be passing immigrations and customs?
I've heard that I'd pass immigration in FRA but customs upon landing in FLR?
Thanks.

You heard it correctly. Strictly speaking you go through customs for your hand luggage in FRA but probably don't even notice it.
Please check this thread if you haven't done so already.

Can I assume that LH in ATL will be able to print the FRA-FLR boarding pass?
