kids play areas and best restaurants during 3.5 hour layover
Hello, we would be arriving from BOM on LH and connecting to a New York bound United flight and had a few questions about our connection. I see that our inbound flight LH765 arrives at "I" gates (I44 / I02 etc).
- I must be going blind and can't seem to spot the "I" gates on the T2 terminal map. Where exactly are they located? Our outbound flight leaves from the "H" gates which I see are on Level 5 so am trying to figure out how much of a walk it will be.
-Is there a kids play area transiting between the "I" gates and the "H" gates to keep our 5 year old busy?
- What is the best place to grab a snack/breakfast? We will be in the airside secure area at all times and I guess on level 5.
- Is there a place on Level 5 to pick up some souvenirs viz. a stein or two?

Hello boeing707 and welcome to FT!
I can answer the last two: on the non-schengen floor (i.e. H gates) there is an Airbräu, with more than decent Bavarian food and beer. There is also a small souvenir shop where you can find all the Bavarian memorabilia.
I never heard of "I" gates to be honest, but I don't travel through that floor very often. Surely someone else will be able to help. Enjoy your trip!

I gates are arrival gates for flights from most non-Schengen countries (exceptions are the US and the UK) which are directly above H gates so arriving passengers from 'unclean' countries can be separated from departing passengers. Level I consists of corridors with some moving walkways which eventually lead to security check and down to Level 5 where H gates are located.

Tight connection...is it feasible?
I leave BEG with LH in C and arrive at FRA for a five hour layover. I then have a one hour flight in C to MUC and then only 40 min for my flight to IAD in LH F. Is 40 min doable (will they drive me to my plane to catch the flight to IAD since I am in First?

Unless you need the five (!) hours in FRA, change your flight to MUC to an earlier one. 40 minutes might be possible, but if for any reason you are delayed you'll be SOL.
Even if you arrive on time you might be subjected to secondary screening, and I'm not sure it would work.

To answer your question, this is very tight and if anything goes wrong you're screwed.
Is this "unusual" (i.e. insane on its face) routing just to enjoy the FCT or FCL in FRA? If so, I'd strongly suggest you do yourself a big favor and just fly from BEG to MUC and enjoy the FCL there. It's really not worth the major aggravation/downside.
